Crisis club Portsmouth have fourth owner of the season

They might be bottom of the Premiership & likely to go down, but this will be good news for their supporters. It looked very much like bankruptcy was looming under their old owners (& that would have made a huge points hit NEXT season when they were in the Championship).

more worrying is the rumour masch is off to barcelona at seasons end.we will get money for him but how much will be given to rafa to strengthen the squad ?
hicks and gillet are as bad as bent bankers lining their own pockets whilst the club sinks further into debt.
if they arent gone soon i can see liverpool being mid table mediocre for a few seasons.

Does anyone remember last year when Chelsea had a transfer ban imposed on them. Headline news splashed all over the papers for days.
Well, it might come as a surprise to some, as so little has been reported, but the ban has been lifted. :D Only bad news sells I suppose.
Lens confirmed that their pre-contract agreement with Kakuta was 'not valid' and that, therefore, the teenager could not be accused of breaking it and Chelsea were 'not liable for breach of contract.

Capello strips Terry of captaincy

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/8495604.stm

Not surprised. When Capello was made manager I was told by an Italian friend that he would be a very different proposition than Sven or McClaren and highly focused on discipline. Personally think it is a pity as it has nothing to do with football. He is also a far better centre half & captain than Ferdinand who replaces him....I also understand why Capello was really left with very little choice & at least MADE a decision.

Newcastle 5 - 1 Cardiff

Another cracking win for Newcastle. Cardiff are 4th. so no mugs. Are now 6 points clear of second place West Brom.

If the tackles keep flying in during the second half of the Mersey Derby, there won't be any fit players left from either of the scouse teams ..... my prediction is 9 - 9 at full time .... players left that is.

tut, tut.. Has it come to this??? The once mighty sides of Liverpool & Everton now resorting to a twice a season game where the winning manager can look forward to keeping his job - similar to that which has been happening in the North East for the last few years!!
Truth is neither side has much to crow about on this showing. If Gerrard does take his ball & play somewhere else at the end of the year then Pool can look forward to more mid table mediocrity for a few years to come. Everton must hope & pray that Moyes does not wake up one morning & realise he can do far better than manage a team with zero backing from above. OK, it was a derby so football goes out the window, but even with that included it was a very poor game.
United cruise to a win against Portsmouth!! All is well on the pitch - well no I don't think so. Portsmouth were pretty dire & I think were well beaten in the dressing room. Average United performance, disaster by Portsmouth. United have had a very impressive 5 game home run since losing to Villa. 20 goals for, zero against. This with their 2 established central defenders taking a back seat!! Have they really been that good??? No, they have not. The opposition has been that poor. The next highest scorer after Rooney has been opposition own goals!! Rooney has truly been inspirational & if he can keep fit & reproduce this sort of form in South Africa then no one will look forward to facing England.
The United fans (even given the 20 goals they have seen) are not a happy bunch. The latest way of showing contempt for the Glazer family is to wear green & gold scarfs to commemorate the club's origins as Newton Heath. The 500 million GBP bond that they have placed on the financial markets has not been a resounding success. It just does not represent a good business proposition. If one the most successful club in Europe cannot afford to pay the crippling debts that the owners have put on it, then what happens when the club hits a few football lean years???

I've noticed Galee has kept very quiet about Terrys behaviour.Theres a whole string of mistresses coming out of the woodwork now. He's a great footballer but as a person he is scum.He was voted "Dad of the year 2009 !!" for Christs sake....what a joke !
Maybe Galee condones Terrys behaviour or believes the Daily Mail stories saying he's innocent or can equate it to his own lifestyle in Udon ! :D
But I agree....Ferdinand as captain.....do me a favour....should be Gerrard whose starting to run into a bit of form now after a poor season so far.

Not sure Gerrard should be placed with extra responsibility Tony. I think there will be enough demands on him in midfield and providing chances for Rooney anyway. But it does highlight a serious issue for England, unless Terry can miraculously make it all go away in the next couple of months.
I think most managers would agree that given an equality of players on the pitch that a centre half is best placed to be the captain. Which makes it a bit of a problem. Terry (in my opinion) is still actually the best person for the job even though I understand, solely for media reasons, Capello cannot let him remain so. Ferdinand certainly is NOT the man for the job - never forget he could not even 'remember' 10 minutes after being told to turn up for his drugs test. Not the sort of character required to remind other players to keep to a plan when in the midst of losing a game in the World Cup.
