A City spokesperson said: 'There has been absolutely no contact. We have not spoken to him and there is no foundation to this.'

Premier League introduces new regulations that state clubs must name a 25-man squad by 31 August.
Full story: Daily Express

This has given United & Spurs an issue with Hargreaves, Anderson and Woodgate according to reports.
I understand & support the concept of the ruling, but maybe an exception (new category) could be made for players with long term injury issues. I don't think anyone designed this rule to create a situation where clubs dump players with serious injuries.

Am I right in thinking that clubs have to submit a list of 25 players at the end of each transfer window...ie.1st September and 1st February ?
Overall,I think its a good idea because it will stop the big spending clubs stockpiling players eg.Manchester City currently have a squad of 36 and will have to transfer or loan out 11 by 1st September such as Richards,Bellamy,De Jong,Santa Cruz.
But there should be some provision for long term injured players....maybe a limit of staying in the squad for 1 season which would mean you could be registered a couple of times.
It would certainly help out for the likes of Hargreaves and Woodgate but in Hargreaves case he has been out for two seasons already. If he did ever get back to full fitness maybe a loan spell at a Championship club could help ease him back.
He's been sorely missed by both United and England.I'm hoping this latest setback wont be the last straw for him.
Always sad to see someones career finished by injury, particularily when they were at their peak.

I don't see the reasoning behind these type of regulations unless they are an attempt''to reedistribute the Wealth around the league, which I 100% oppose.Rewarding less,by penalizing those that do more, just does not set well with me.

These dominating organizations did not happen except for grand planning and effort!

The league should pay attention to the fairness of play, proper calls and maybe restricting foreign players and managers to enhance fan support and revenue,if they are going to meddle!

More on this matter in today's Mail..
The size of the squad is also actually regulated by the number of 'home grown over 21s' you have in the squad.
The maximum size a team can register (& I think it is like the transfer window, a 2 times a season thing) is 25 players IF 8 are home grown over 21 year olds.
The teams who will suffer this year are:
Arsenal - can only register a squad of 23
Chelsea - can only register a squad of 21
Liverpool - can only register a squad of 22

Man City & Spurs are expected to be hit by the 'only 25' squad rule & have to leave some quite 'big names' out of their squads.

After Jol didn't want the job it has gone to Mark Hughes..
Mark Hughes set to become new Fulham manager

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 866133.stm

Personally i think that it is a good move for Fulham, far better than if they had managed to get Jol. Mr. Hughes is likely to carry on with the Roy Hodgson approach of making the best use of the squad available. Might not win many plaudits for style but it was an approach that got them to a European final last year!!
