I think Stephen Ireland is a cracking player, having a particularly good season the one before last. I don't think he had a long term injury, just not liked or fitting into the new boss's tactics?

Been away for a few weeks and has taken me ages to catch up on latest postings.
According to Daily mail on Monday, Scolari going to Chelsea is a done deal.
Hope so, he was my number one choice.

Certainly a bit of a shock O'Neill resigning.....although maybe not as big a shock as Scunthorpe winning at Reading! 8)
There are rumours that its about lack of funds to improve the team and that O'Neill had become unpopular with the players.
He certainly seemed to be liked enough at his other clubs.
Bob Bradley (USA coach) for the job imo......links with Randy Lerner.
If not him, theres only Sven who doesnt seem to be fixed up yet.

Looks like he was not as appreciated as a manager as I thought.
Aston Villa players texted images of champagne bottles to each other to celebrate manager Martin O'Neill's exit - under a week before the new Premier League season starts.

I gather that he resigned after.....
he was told that he had to sell to spend on new players
when he asked what he would have as a result of the proposed sale of Milner it was a disappointing sum to him

German Osieck named Socceroos coach

German Holger Osieck has been named the new head coach of the Socceroos, replacing Pim Verbeek.

Football Federation Australia chairman Frank Lowy made the announcement this afternoon.

Osieck's most recent coaching appointment was with Japanese club side Urawa Red Diamonds.

He was assistant to Franz Beckenbauer with Germany's World Cup-winning side in 1990 and was also the national coach of Canada...............

Only what I have read here Jack...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holger_Osieck
I am not the greatest follower of German, Japanese or Turkish league football (where he seems to have spent a fairly decent career) :D Does seem to have a fair record with the National sides he has been involved in - Germany admitedly not as the main man & the Canadian thing especially.

Defensive midfielder Christian Poulsen to Pool....bit on the aged side at 30 but they could have done with someone like him last season. Supposedly a replacement for Mascherano who I thought looked out of his depth in the Premiership!!

Man Utd set to sign Portuguese striker Bebe. At 20 years old you can't figure that he will get much time in the first team this season, although if he is half decent he might ease out 'shirky'!! :D :D

Ibrahimovic.....no dont rate him either.....bit of a cross between Crouch and Berbatov....nice if he signs for Citeh :D
Maybe City are getting rid of two unsettled stars in Robinho and Tevez (cant see Tevez going actually) but bringing in a renowned trouble maker in Balotelli !
Mancini reckons he can handle him but even Mourinho found it difficult.....and Mancini has hardly done a good job with keeping Bellamy in check ! :-"
