Sunderland boss Steve Bruce believes the race to replace Fabio Capello as England manager in 2012 is between him, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, Roy Hodgson of Liverpool and Blackburn's Sam Allardyce.

It would be good to have some competition for the job, especially from English managers who are probably all capable of bringing something different to the job. Just depends how the FA plays it I guess. I seem to remember that their previous attempts to 'run a competition' for a new manager left a few bitter words about it from some of the candidates.
I know it is rather a different situation (because Raymond Domenech was being sacked) but the France situation at the last World Cup should be treated as a warning...

Something to cheer the hearts of any Pool supporters. Looks like the current owners reign is nearly over. & this from a 'quality' paper too, not one of the 'rags'. :D
Tom Hicks and George Gillett's reign as Liverpool owners could have less than a month to run. Royal Bank of Scotland has moved its loans with the American pair into its toxic-assets division - a sign that they will not be extended.

Bob please tell me why you chose to leave the miracle worker that is NIGEL ADKINS off ur England mangers shortlist his miraculous effort at Scunthorpe Utd are second to none - just imagine what he could do with the a choice of all the available players England would be world beaters for sure !!!!! i feel most who are knowlegable regarding football must see this . How the hell a fella like Steve Bruce should think himself worthy of the job baffles me to say the least.

ADKINS FOR ENGLAND !!

It is not my list Jon - it is Mr. Bruce's according to The Guardian.. :D I suggest that you contact them immediately. :D
However I am surprised that you are suggesting that Mr. Adkins moves on, especially so soon after nearly losing him to Southampton!! :-"

I have been tracking Sky sports and as of today the deal in which Mr Adkins goes to some third rate Southcoast outfit is off ............. for now , i hope he stays but the Scunny Chairman a certain Steve Wharton is a personal friend of my father hes passed on that as long as Sarfhamtoon pay compo to Scunny he will let him go - if that happens Scunny will be in the preverbial sh*t street.

The BBC link that Dermot gave is well worth you reading Jon.

Seems Southampton wanted him to 'do the dirty' on the Iron to save them a few quid & he refused.
To be honest I don't blame him either. Crazy to go & work for a Chairman & Board that are happy to cheat - one day they are going to cheat you. :( Southampton Board do not come out of this with much credit, if I was a saint fan I think i would be happy to see them depart!!

Strike by players to halt Serie A in Italy

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 987971.stm

The dispute centres around a proposal by clubs to limit the rights of players to refuse transfers, as Juventus defender Fabio Grosso recently did following an offer from AC Milan.
The clubs want the right to insist that when a player has a year remaining on his contract, he must accept a transfer to another, equally competitive club that guarantees the same financial treatment and status.
They propose that if the player does not agree to move he must instead come to a deal over his contract with his current employers.

They might watch some football worth watching from England or Spain while they are out.... :D :D

HOT OFF THE PRESS !! The sneaky unsaintlike Sarfhamton barstoods are still trying to blagg Nigel Adkins from Scunny Utd ....... increasing terms etc and now back dooring the club . Mr Wharton the Scunny chairman will do some sort of dodgy deal no doubt. I could understand if it was the Villa job but why the hell would Adkins even want to go to takeover at Sarfhamton ??? hes been a daimond at Scunny , must be the beach or something as Scunthorpe is a shathole.

whers the loyalty , same as Brain Laws the greedy no mark asshole whos only good at getting clubs relegated - Burnley , Sheff Wednesday , Scunthorpe and Grimsby with more to follow - he couldnt manage a good sh*t.

piemash ..... always on the ball !!

The saints job is certainly not attracting who they want..
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe rejects Southampton move

But, as you say Jon, they seem to be still pushing for Adkins....
Managerless Southampton remain in talks with Scunthorpe over a compensation package for Iron manager Nigel Adkins.

Looks like it will all be sorted soon, Jon.
Nigel Adkins calls for an end to Saints saga

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 991183.stm

Poor result at home for them to lose against City - who are not exactly setting the division afire. :D
Mind you still doing far better than the saints, who, a division below are in the relegation zone at the moment!!!

You had me worried there for a minute Jon, I thought they had somehow got into Europe :D Wednesday week.... :D
Tuesday, 14 September 2010
Uefa Champions League
Man Utd v Rangers, GpC, 19:45
Sunday, 19 September 2010
Barclays Premier League
Man Utd v Liverpool, 13:30
Wednesday, 22 September 2010
Carling Cup
Scunthorpe v Man Utd, R3, 19:45

Think you will not see many of the 'stars' turning out for United, but they still will be young lads wanting to impress. Think the Iron would have had a reasonable chance of pulling it off, except for all this managerial fuss. Expect a 1-1 draw away & then an easy win back at Old Trafford..... :D
