Thanks for the link, R.ito
Direct deposit is the faster and safer way to go.

Here's one for those who were wondering if we will be getting a COLA (Cost of Living Allowance) in 2009. The answer is YES and it will be 5.8% ! \:D/

oi Papa Guido... I'm suspicious that a .org site supposedly is fronting for the US Gov and the SS folks.. I'd think that a .gov link to the SS Administration would be truer to form for a Direct deposit sign up for SS.. The .org appears to be a front for some business...

and indeed here is the SS direct deposit link:

oi FrazeeDK, the following is from their website:

The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Banks are sponsoring Go Direct, a campaign to motivate people who receive federal benefit checks to use direct deposit.

There's also a link on the VA website. But as always buyer beware...

Don't spend the money yet. They will probably screw the expats again just like they did with the last stimulus. Only available if you have a US address. Wait and see.

Beware. I'm always suspicious of people who only want your credit card number. They won't accept debit cards, Western Union, Money Orders, etc. Probably wouldn't even accept cash. There is a reason for that. I would steer clear.

Bumper my money go to my credit union account I will not set up a direct deposit to a thai bank
I will take my chances on good old USA. just remember this I can write a check for any amount
and pay only 300 baht to the bank it saves me 150 baht ATM fee as well as the 1% cash advance
the only down fall is I have to wait 20 to 35 days for my money. and I will get the 250.00
if it passes congress which I suspect it will. I never did like taking money from ATM even before the 150 baht fee
