Sorry for the loss.

You can say his name. His friends will usually answer.

Most funerals here are coordinated by the wife relaying into his his friends, and one of them stepping up and in turn coordinating with his peers...

He had no wife. Everyone who knew him would knowhe was dual Swede, Canadian citizen, thank you. I have know idea what to do. Is it the responsibility of police for some duties regarding his death. The police have locked up his rented home, seems to be with his padlocks and his scooter is not parked where it always is. I had keys to the house and my room. But neighbors told me I was not allowed to enter.

Usually things are handled through the native country embassy. You might want to contact them for information.

Suggest that it might be worth your while contacting the tourist police in Udon as they will have dealt with many such cases in the past, and are probably already involved in this one

last two answer given here are good advice to take...go to the Tourist Police Station Udon, and call / email his birth country Embassy in BKK....

if you follow this advice then your Mate's family will be contacted by his Embassy, and they can decide what to do with his body..and if they decide to cremate him here in Udon, then you and his friends can attend and say goodbye..

The police will close off the house until the cause of his death is determined, so thats probably the reason for not allowing anyone inside...

sorry for your loss.

Steven Gilbert Passed away

Post by RALPHCUSENS » September 2, 2014, 9:10 am

It is with deepest regret I inform members that Steven Gilbert commonly known as Gilbert passed away this morning, Gilbert was having a quiet drink with his
friends at his home/shop house in Pleasantville 2 yesterday evening when he collapsed, he was given CPR by one of his friends and an ambulance was called, on arrival at hospital, he was put on life support equipment, which was switched off this morning .

Gilbert (aged 63) was a long standing resident in Udon and had many friends amongst us, who enjoyed a game of golf and the occasional beer, he will be sadly missed by those amongst us who knew him.

Funeral arrangements will be posted as soon as they are known.

Rest in Peace Gilbert

Terribly sad news. Gilbert was not just one of the nicest people I have met in Udon, he is one of the nicest people I have met. Not a fair weather friend, but a friend who stuck by you through thick and thin. I'm proud to have been able to call him a mate. Good night Gilbert from The Scouse Git.

Gilbert's funeral service will be held on Saturday 6th September, at 12.30 (ish- Gilbert being Gilbert maybe late as normal) at WAT YOTHANIMIT.

Directions: from the traffic lights at the Khon Kean junction on the ring road, coming into town, take the 2nd left (just before the Military Hospital) and you will find the Wat about 200 mtrs on the Right.

All are welcome

Sadly I am in the UK at present and will be unable to attend 'Gilberts' funeral. I have known him for many years coming here on holiday and before I came here permanently four years ago. What a character and diamond geezer he was and always made me laugh. A very sad loss to me personally and probably to many others. I do not have a picture of him unfortunately.
RIP my old 'Chelsea' friend. :(
