Hello
My first post!!!
Shortly I will be staying in Udon for a few weeks and would like to travel to Chiang Mai for a few days stay.
There used to be a flight from Udon there but I cannot find the info anymore.
Has this route been suspended?
If I cannot fly I would like to go by train. Does anyone have the train timetable link.
Hope I can get some help on this issue.
Thanks
Much appreciated
Peter

Welcome to the forum.
There is no direct rail link from Udon Thani to Chiang Mai.
Look on this page for timetables on the Northern Line

Thanks for your replies.
Wow, looks like a bus trip is a poor (dangerous) option. Without a flight from Udon to Chiang Mai or even a direct rail link, I will have to drive myself or forget about it and go somewhere else!

It is quite a long drive and I usually stop over for the night about half way, partly because I am not especially keen on driving on Thai roads that I am unfamiliar with at night and partly because TG has family half way.
It is not an unpleasant trip though especially if you are not in a rush & you then have a car to explore Chang Mai as well..

You should allow at least 8 hours plus stops.
