Udon Thani Forum help, support & announcements

Lee,

Thank you for staying on this. I have copied the IP address (203.195.105.141) so I can do this test the next time the timeout problem is persistent.

That's a really cool tracerout utility at the URL in your post, but it will only let me trace from their server to another location. I suspect your hosting service want to know what the route looks going the other way -from our computers toward your hosting service. Please clarify.

I'm glad you are finding answers.

Thanks Ray, the more information I can supply the host the better.

jetdoc wrote:Lee, My suspicions were same as Dakato's also thought it might be related to mac's, but I don't know didily squat about these things. Guess it's just coincidental.

Thanks jetdoc, I guess it was just coincidental that the fault happened at the same time as I made some adjustments, I don't blame you for thinking that the problem may have been related to my updates. It's nice to receive a polite reply from you and others unlike Dakoda's usual sarcastic comments. #-o

Thanks. :D

I thought you were a computer savvy Dakoda! The changes I made to udonmap.com, i.e. css files, will not cause Gateway timeout problems. If you don't know what Gateway timeouts are do a Google search.

This problem is entirely due to slow IP communication between back-end computers, possibly including your Web server. Only the people who set up the network at the site which hosts the Web server can fix this problem.

being
computer savvy
I know that just a dot in the wrong place can cause very strange problems :!: and lets face it enough was broken with the unload of the new format, that a dot in the wrong place is a good place to start looking :!:

You're right Daks, a dot in the wrong place can cause some strange problems, but not Gateway Timeouts!

If it really was a "dot in the wrong place" causing problems, then it would it would effect all users, not just TOT users from the Udon Thani region.

I have to side with Lee on this one 100% Dakoda.

The problem is not with the site, or the new format. It is with your ISP - totally and 100%. Makes no difference where you put the dots or don't put the dots. A dot in the wrong place will simply take you to one of the advertisement pages that are so prevalant these days on the internet.

The problem is with your ISP.

The page you viewed about Gateway Timeout's is an explantation about what they are and how to resolve them. They will not list every ISP and host on the internet because there are millions. Therefore TOT will of course not be mentioned.

Yes the emoticon code has been fixed. Any reason for the small text?

P.S. Are you still having problems with this website?

just wondering if anyone would bother to read.

Well, I never had a problem, just had to use a proxy, to fool the web hosting site into thinking I was not in thailand. Now, been busy, but the few times have not needed a proxy.

Lee,

Not sure if it happens to others as well but I now get Gateway Timeouts trying to access eBay US and an employers website also based in the USA, Tampa Florida.

not sure I understand the trace utility you posted. Can you or someone give a quick explanation as to what to do...

Your best bet is to go and download the lite version of the program and use that one.

http://visualroute.visualware.com/

Then run it, and it will tell you where problems might be.

The lower the graph is, the better the connections are. The higher the graph indicates that there are problems enroute.

You will need to have Java 2 Platform installed to use this program. You can download that program from java.com

You will no doubt see that your connections start out slow - which is a problem with your ISP.
