Well then, that's that. Over to my boy, now.

Worse than a Thai massage but better than having a root canal.

Think anaesthetic from Kumphawapi, not so strong; just kept thinking of those Civil War movies where some poor chap's having his leg sawed off, and of England, of course.

$300 all in, including antibiotics, painkillers, gauze, tape, and cream. Half an hour job.

Any ideas what that would've cost if you had to pay for it yourself in your own country?

Congrats on the operation Jeff.

From memory I paid about the same 10 years ago in Perth.

But I have a burning question - who shaved your knackers?

That would be telling.

All I can say is that it took more than one session, and the doc was quite impressed with the job.

Although there is something of the shorn sheep aspect to the new look.

Like seeing how handsome someone is after they shave off their big old beard.

But enough of this; reckon it's the pain meds talking!

What are the success rate stats of a vasectomy? My husband has a vasectomy almost 3 months ago and hasn't gone in to get his sperm count done yet. I was just wondering what the stats were of the vasectomy not taking? Or the stats of my becoming pregnant after the vasectomy?

@ annabelly: According to my doctor and my research: Vasectomies are close to 99.9% effective.

Chances of pregnancy diminish over 2-3 months; after that I'm told miniscule chance of any of the little fellas surviving to make it to an egg.

The literature they gave me added that about 10-12 ejaculations post-op would clear out the plumbing pretty well, though I'm not sure over what time span that can be done.

The experts always suggest getting a lab test to be certain after about 8-10 weeks. I'm sure they're being cautious, but better safe than sorry in a case like this.

@ jackspratt: how many days afterwards were you back in action in Indonesia again? Hat off to you, then.
