Assuming mean "in Thailand"

Best is down by a beach somewhere either Pattaya if you party, Hua Hin for quiet beach full of old people or Samui island for backpackers.

Bangkok has everything. after that if you dont like the beach try Chiang Mai The North west offers mountains, hill tribes, elephants ,rafting etc also decent weather.

look in the guide book. if there are no tours to a place its probably not worth living there

A more welcoming response perhaps, until proven otherwise apart from chit chat and rumour

There are rough areas in Udon, just like any other town or city. If you want the quiet life with easy access, look outside the ring road, its only 10 minutes into town. There are some members here who live centrally, perhaps they can advise on areas to avoid. Actually, the very "Thai" areas, while superficially a bit rough, are probably the safest and most comfortable places to live. You need to specify what you regard as good and bad really.

I have lived in Udon for the last 5 months that is all . we live in central Udon so everything is fairly near . We also live in a predominately Thai area . I have never seen a fight , a drunk or any kind of trouble at all . Im a musician and the peace is something I love . My g/f comes from a nearby village and we could move there as the family have empty houses there but the convienince of living centrally along with the fact that its trouble free makes us both of the mind that we stay where we are. Udon is a funny place . you can find little roads with some lovelly houses and suddenly your in a lovelly area that you would never know existed. . Old houses are mixed with new . My g/f house was allready built when I came as it happens I love the location so we have no problem , but if I was I was just to wander around Udon and look down any of the small roads and back roads I could find a doxen places I would not mind living. That does not mean they are up for rent or sale . You have to look and wait. Its like moving anywhere . Look around and see whats available and what siuits you . As for crime in Udon well I must bow to what others say about it as personnaly I have had no experience of it , so far , touch wood ,

Can anybody decipher this, because this barely seems like English to me, which is the norm on here....or is this a "drop of wine" too many and "spotting the bashings" again ?

You are capable of an intelligent posting hxjohn...try again.....and please do not abuse new members, as elsewhere.... the ban key awaits you here too
