Gym/fitness activity in Udon

Postby maccavelli » April 15, 2010, 6:35 am

Hi, next time I'm in Udon and feel like exercise but without the debilitating feeling of the relentlessly hot sun
to sap my enthusiasm is there a gym around that could be recommended? A pool with it would be nice.

I've heard of the one around the ring road, near Tesco Lotus.

Muay Thai Fitness has everything you could want -- weights, cardio, pool, track, soccer stadium, locker rooms, showers, etc.

The Sports College has the best bang for the buck; 3,000 baht/year, 500 baht/month.

Hi mac.
The one on the ring road is called the big gym. It's on the only stretch of single carriageway on the ring road. Leaving the new Tesco's go toward Udon, at first lights turn right. Go passed the electricity place then just before you get to Ban Nong Tum it is on the left hand side. If you get to the cross roads with overhead flashing yellow light, you have gone to far. Never been in it but have heard it is good.
Cheers Doug.

Actually, the name of the gym is Big City Gym: http://biggymcity.com/

Another one in town with reasonable rates is at the Ruy Suk hotel. Smaller facility, but sufficient. Yet another next to Nong Prajak lake, but IMHO, more expensive than Big City Gym or the Sports College.

That's where Muay Thai Fitness is located. West side of the city off the ring road between the airport and Phosi Road.

OT recommends big city gym, the directions are on a previous post. I go there almost everyday when in UT, the swimming pool and sun lounge area and showers were just being finished off last time I was in there so I expect those facilities to be open now. Well worth checking out.

Hi, ok thanks. Whereabouts is it on the big map of Udon. The odd cute Thai girl working out wouldn't go amiss either.

Yes there is, but the program is half way over. Registration for the sports program ended on Mar 25th. My son is enrolled in football camp and it ends on April 30th.

I posted the info last month:
