Has anyone seen Grecian Formula for hair or similar product? Grecian is a hair color product that you just comb in and it gradually darkens your hair. Of course I don't use it, but a friend was asking. :^o

What's up, are things going that badly with the contractor?

Don't think they have it, not that I've looked :^o . Not Grecian anyway. My wife says there's a hair dye that's sort of like a shampoo. It's lathered in, let sit for about 10min and rinsed. Only need to use once. She also adds that the difference between the shampoo and regular hair dye is that the shampoo doesn't contain a certain chemical...hydrogen something (?) peroxide maybe, I don't know. Anyway, it's available at Ngee Soon on the ring road.

You can always have "your friend" stop by my wife's shop and she'll hook him up with a high tight, that should get rid of most of the gray.

No Grecian claims to restore your 'natural' colour and as for Thai that is pitch black all of the products my wife uses in her saloon act like a dye and will turn your entire head black. There are however several products made by l'oreal which can be used safely on the grey hair to blend it with your natural colour, but they are not restorers. If you wish to investigate them the main stockist is opposite the entrance to the central bus station. I think its called 289. The owner is a "nice" young man who speaks good English. Just seen the link by Papa to Just for men.As I have experience of this product in my English salons would advise . It is a hair dye, pure and simple, so if you have totally grey hair it will apply evenly, but if your head is only partially grey as most men's are, it will come out lighter on the grey areas than it does on the natural parts , leaving a streaking effect .Why not enhance the grey rather than attempt to disguise it? I do and I am told it makes me look rather distinguished :D

There is a product called Restoria Discreet which seems identical to Grecian. I have seen it in the pharmacy section of Big C and Tesco. It is a cream, not a liquid like Grecian, but it works the same way. I believe it is made in Australia.

Here's a link that will tell you more than you care to know about it. http://www.restoria.com

Interesting link. It would appear from the ingredients that the product they market as Youthair is almost identical to Grecian 2000 as it works on restoring the molecules in the hair that causes greying.

I tried that a few years ago when I was going through my midlife crisis. It smelled SO BAD. Kind of a toxic sewer smell. That can't be healthy. You have to leave it in your hair for several hours. After that I decided to be my all natural "handsome" self. Chicks dig it!!! :-"

Papa, can you give me exact directions to your wife's shop? So she does both male and female cuts? My wife currently pays 200 baht for a cut and to apply coloring if she brings in her own color pack. I currently pay 80 plus tip for a man's cut at a barber shop way on the other side of town, so I'm looking for a shop a little closer to my home in San Sa-Ran. The turnover in these barber shops is atrocious, and I seldom can get the same guy when I return. Needless to say, every haircut experience is a nightmare and never turns out the way I like it.

I always say a prayer before I have my haircut and I've never been disappointed.
I asked my wife if I should dye my hair. Her answer was " If God mean't you to have grey hair then that's his will. Don't interfere with nature ". I tried to explain that even Elvis dyed his hair and she said "Yes but he was handsome"

No doubt Rito will reply to you but I think you are expecting too much to get any cheaper than your currently paying Semper .Out here in the village when a customer brings there own colour my wife charges 200 bht for short hair and up to 350bht for long . I suppose you realise to do the job properly it takes between 2-3 hours. In town most salons are around the 500bht mark .As for your own hair 80 bht is the norm now for a air con salon. The VIP barber near the complex has just increased his price to that . Ok you can get a 40bht job in a open to the weather place but as you appear to be particularly choosy, I am sure you wouldn't be happy in one of them places.Papa's wife went to the same hairdressing school my wife did and I can tell you the course fee and expenses were over 100k, surely you don't think they can work for less 2$ an hour?

Thanks all. I think my friend is going to let the grey win out when his last bottle of Grecian runs out. His wife told him that at least he still has hair, so what if it is white.....plus she has turned into a great barber and gives excellent high and tights.

Papa, house is finished except for final electrics and paint. We moved in on 30 Dec. Please come out and I'll pick your brain for some ideas I'm thinking on. Semper, still waiting on that bucket of chicken and some coon hunting stories!

ah haircuts in Thailand.. For the past few years I've gotten haircuts, pedicure, manicure and a shampoo at he wife's favorite salon.. pretty cheap too.. 38 years ago it was hopping on my 10 speed bike, riding down to 2nd circle and going to a barbershop that would cut your hair, trim you nose hairs, clean your ears, shave your neck and ears, and give a shoulder massage.. I can't recall what it cost but it must have been cheap since as a youn GI I had practically no money and the Baht rate was 20 to the dollar.. You could also get a low cost haircut at the outside barber chairs that were located down where UD Town now is standing.
