we do have a tendency to go sideways, though looking back, i think we can all take credit for this one. though lots of info, and a slight rant, which actually, with KP post, motivated some investigations, and some good info about bupa, and galee's imput, for possible changes in pricing. and more input, so, sideways as it went, lot of very good input by everyone, very informative.

Well, I think it has pretty much answered your question Nola - admittedly you have to read through the lines though.
I am from the UK, in order to answer your question honestly & accurately I would have needed to have written a VERY long & potentially boring piece about the history of the NHS (as this is necessary to explain why it was created the way it was & why it has not evolved along different lines), it's faults (& there are many) and its benefits (& there are many of those too).
All that would just be my personal slant on it - for what that is worth.
Instead you have been treated to genuine examples of the real life issues that ordinary citizens face in the absence of a National & Universal Health Scheme.
If a National health scheme resolves these issues (which it certainly does) then that gives it a LOT of pluses, if alternative schemes cannot resolve these issues then they are not really an alternative. :D

 Maybe you should have added,''in your home countries''! As we are a Thailand oriented group,I think it is natural to assume you were referring to the the ''care''we receive here? :?
