Help required to provide a new home

I have a 4 year old dog (may or may not be shitzu, but looks like one), which I am being forced to find a new home for. My young daughter is, according to the doctors, allergic to the dogs fur.
He is a "yard" dog, and spends all his time in the carport or sitting outside my front door.
He is very friendly (doesn't bite or bark), enjoys playing, but will make his own entertainment (sitting watching the world go by) if required. If anyone knows of someone who can help by giving him a good home please let me know.

Just a bit more info:-

He had all his injections when he was a puppy, and apart from getting some fleas about 2 years ago and worms about 3 years ago, he has been in good health.
I take him for a "haircut" about twice a year, and he comes home looking like an alien but only for a few days before his coat begins to grow again.
