but on this day the room was cleaned without us knowing, so we did't hide some things.
Which happed to be the day the new girl started, the owneres husband didn't even have a clue what days the rooms where cleaned or by who, and of course the hotel has no cameras.
I dont see what problem is from some posters here?

innercircle, what you are experiencing here is what I call "the Inspector Clouseau" investigative research team of the forum. These folks, who are not always the same folks each time, very often try to convince posters that what they experienced was NOT what they experienced -- even though they weren't there to witness any of it or know all of the information. They very often tell you what you should wear, how you should act, etc. They are also the same people who will argue with a stop sign or a traffic signal. If it is red, they will claim that it should be green -- and vice versa. There are also some who are just bored retirees and cannot fathom that others don't think exactly as they think.

In other words, as we say in the US, "Blow it off and don't worry about it." You were there. You know what happened, and I appreciate your sharing it.

hotel warning

Interesting to note that on the other forum is a post which purports to come form the owner of the hotel who states his wife speaks passable English, judging by the comments it would seem he either has no knowledge or seems to ignore what has occurred. obviously a place to miss it would seem.

You may not like this comment, but it is a quite normal scam for the thai wife to hide the gold herself and go to sell it later.

Then she pretends it has been stolen, in the next week or so she will be pulling on your heart strings for a new one.

This is thailand!!!! Happens all the time!!!!

Note the above comment is aimed as a generalisation, not directed specifically at the OP or his wife.

Regards

Kev

Good observation. I've known this to happen, not to myself but I know of one Brit staying in Top Mansion that his girl pulled this on him. He didn't fall for it and she is no longer his girlfriend.

You might be right about the new help, but there is no proof. To accuse in Thailand is very confrontational and offensive to Thais(face again).Sorry about your loss, but this is Thailand and everything is your responsibility. There is no way to hold the establishment responsible as it could have been anybody,a guest,an employee,or a professional thief!
I am not sure what you expected of the owners unless they were downright nasty without provocation. But persistent accusations and demands could illicit a nasty response depending on personalities.I do not know either one of you or the hotel!
Assuming that we have any falang country type of recourse in Thailand is a mistake to start with.I have not been stolen from or ripped off, cheated etc. in the last 3 to 4 years because I assume the worst that could happen and take full responsibilty by keeping my actions preemptive ie,don't wear jewelry, don't show big money, don't allow strangers in my home or if I do I check all security when they leave.I have been here over 13 years and It took the major portion of that to make me so rigid about these things.
Good luck in the future. :-k

hotel warning

My 2 baht (daughter in school, raining outside and nothing going on in the villiage) worth.

Going on the assumption (key word that starts with "ass") that initial post is factual.

Forum is for information on events/places/things that are going on in Udon Thani, so I appreciate the warning on this hotels. Yes, possible misplaced / wife hoarded gold........but the noted attitude of the hotel owner is my key item of not using or recommending this hotel.

Isn't running a hotel a customer service business!!!!!

In any case there are many hotels in Udon Thani, why stay at a place where the owner isn't or is assumed to be non-helpful/simpathetic to guests complaints..............happy customer is a return customer!!!

Obviously a place to miss, after living here for 9 years I still have not seen it, nor it would seem have I missed much, there are plenty of other reputable hotels even a resort or two that encourage long stayers who have impeccable results, so any place that is not up to the standard give it a MISS.
