House break-in & Assult (Ban Jan Area)

An intruder broke into the home of an elderly falang friend of ours around midnight several days ago in the Ban Jan (บ้านจัน) area. Apparently the intruder entered through a bedroom window. The intruder stole the man's wallet and then struck the man with a wooden pole several times on the face and on the knee. I'm not sure if the intruder did so because the man put up a fight or whether the beating was non-provoked. I visited the man in the hospital today.....eyes still black and blue, but otherwise recovering. The police were alerted, took a report, but no one has been apprehended. The man's house does not have security bars on the windows. No further information available.
