"Planking" - How stupid is this?

I just looked at the BBC news and a report came on of an Aussie in Brisbane " Planking" this is the latest craze where you lie on an object and get a mate to take a pic and post it on the net. This idiot decide to lie down on a Th floor balcony needless to say the scraped him off the floor the fool could have fell on someone below.

Saw an article on the ABC web site this morning and must have miss read it. I thought it said he was wanking when he fell off the balcony.

Not planking, but equally stupid. Back in the early 70's a couple of young missionaries were temple-hopping. One decided to mount a statue while the other took a photo. This being the 70's, they took the film to a developer. When the shop owner developed the photo, he sent it to one of the newspapers. All hell broke loose....the two were sent to jail for a year....freed after 6 months by the mercy of the King.

At the time of the incident, I remember thinking what would be the reaction if some visiting Asian (or today, Muslim, God forbid), sauntered into St Patrick's Cathedral, and for the sake of a souveneir, asked his mate to take a photo while he mounted the shoulders of Christ on the cross. Sounds incredibly stupid, but then it's obvious that sometimes people do incredibly stupid things.
I've seen young Thais mounted vertically on the seat of a motorcycle racing down Tanon Tahahn late at night. The only good thing I can see about doing this is, you won't be injured if you crash.

In the uk a plank is the name for a piece of long flat wood , it also is used i a slang manner to some one that is a nutter or a bit wierd ,,,,,,,,, example "do you kow Fred hes a right plank " ............ enuff said - case closed.

Mash ....... hates planking ...... loves wan............dering around historical sites in Asia 11

I prefer the English version of The Plank going back a few years with Eric Sykes and Tommy Cooper. Been looking for a You Tube link but can only find parts 1 & 2.
