How to keep birds off window grills?

Defintly don't put balloons. Every balloon chaser in Udon will think you are putting on a free feed. But then again that might chase the birds away. Semper Fi

Sorry....I neglected to mention balloons. They work as well as foil, incense, red pepper, tiger balm, pinwheels, and cds.....temporarily only! We've had the little buggers even wedge their way into small openings when putting a towel over the window guard.
Before discovering the screen/netting, there were days when we'd remove a half-built nest in the morning and have to remove a replacement in the same place in the evening. You'd think they'd get the message and move on........but they don't.

Swap your windows with the grills (move the grills inside the window). When you do that, leave no more than a 2 cm exterior ledge. Problem solved. Paint the (now) interior grills the same color as the interior walls or black so that they blend in aesthetically; and put some flowers, trophies, pictures - whatever - on your new interior window ledges. Alternatively, install window blinds or curtains cut to 10-20 cm below the interior ledge.

Does wonders.
