How to Post a Photo

The maximum size of a file that you can upload using this method is 256KB (Thanks for that information Stattointhailand)
If your file is larger than that you can re-size it using

This is how to post a photograph on Udonmap from a photograph that is sitting somewhere on your own pc.
I have never used ImageShack but I am sure an expert on that (Bear Monkey where are you ) will post that as well.
Firstly, if you want to post a pic on an existing thread then you need to do via the Red Post reply Button (at the top & bottom of every thread)& not by using the "quick reply box". Although you can do from the quick reply box as long as you "Preview" your post to add the picture (The preview takes you to the same place as pressing the Post Reply Button).

At the bottom of the page are some tabs - click on the centre one "Upload attachments"

Click on the Browse button to search for your picture on your pc. OK it when you have found & then click on "Add the file". The pc will then add the file. Only one final thing you can do is click the "place inline" button. This actually puts the picture after any words that you have added, so that you can add extra words after the photo. If you do not click this button then the pictures will just appear after all the words you have written.

Cannot post file as max allowed is 256kb and the pic is 592kb.

Any ideas?

You need to reduce the quality or size of the picture Statto.
Most of my pics are actually screen captures (using MWSnap) & it does seem to produce quite a small sized file.
I think that is where the Image Shack way of posting scores but I am sure BM will get to that soon...

If you don't have anything on your computer to resize images then try this site http://www.resize2mail.com/

Resize the image, save to your computer and then upload it via the instructions above.

Or alternatively use ImageShack to upload and host any image size.

I use shrink pic, as recommended by someone on this Forum sometime ago. It works very well:

also use shrink pic, i believe that was Paul, way back when. agree, works well.

isara pix I believes shrinks them before posting which I have used in the past and it still works for me

Posting a Photo From Your PC to ImageShack, and then Into a Forum Post.

1. Click on "Post reply"

2. Write your post

3. Click on the "Browse..." button below the box you are typing in.

4. In the window that opens, locate your photo, and double click on the file. You should then see the file name in the box to the left of the "Browse..." button.

5. Click on "host it" under the box with your file in it. Wait for a moment or two (be patient), and it should automatically open Image Shack in your web browser (IE, FF, etc)

6. In the Image Shack page you should see your photo, with a number of options above the photo. I use the 2nd option "Thumbnail for forums (1)"

7. Left click on this option to highlight it, and then right click, and left click on the "copy" option

8. Come back to your post, right click, and then click "paste" where you want to place the photo.

9. Click on the "Preview" button below the message, to make sure the photo has appeared.

10. Finish your message, and then submit.

Posting a Photo From a Website

1. As above

3. Find the photo you want to use. I normally google, and then click on "Images" at the top of the google results page.

4. Find the image you want, and click on it. It will come up on its own google page.

5. At the top of the page, click on "See full-size image". The image should come up on its own page, without anything else.

6. Right click on the webpage address to highlight it, then left click on "copy"

7. Come back to your post in UdonMap

8. Left click on the "Img" box above where you have typed your post.

9. "[img ] [/img ] " should appear in you post

10. Right click between ] and [, and left click "paste. The address from the google page with the photo should appear.

11. See 9. and 10 in the previous section.

I use imageshack and when I try to resize a photo to fit a forum all I ever get is a piddling little photo, despite trying all choices I get the same. Are you saying I shouldn't try to resize?

Think you are selecting the wrong option when using image shack Galee, scroll down the image shack page once you have selected and uploaded your photo and you will see more options....

Example:
This pic was very large way to big for the forum, so used resize on image shack to 320x240 and took it down to 34kbs.




Or use this option, when you have selected a size then uploaded a pic..copy 'Hotlink for forums1 box' then paste on here(and you don't need to click 'img' box when posting)... will give you this.
