Important telephone numbers - Udon Thani & Thailand
Back in our home countries we all knew the telephone number of the emergency services (Police/fire/ambulance)
In Udon (or anywhere else in Thailand) would you know who to call if you arrived at a road accident, your house was on fire, or you had just had your motorbike/car stolen ?
(And assuming there were no locals around)
I wouldn't !

Given that the average response time for an ambulance in the UK was over 20 mins (before I left several years ago), I don't think calling the TP first, waiting for them to turn up and then call you an ambulance is a good idea. You would probably have died several times over before the acutely aware Thai drivers had finally moved over and allowed the Ambulance through.

I think the 'rescue workers' would be first on the scene don't they monitor the radio waves...?stattointhailand wrote:Given that the average response time for an ambulance in the UK was over 20 mins (before I left several years ago), I don't think calling the TP first, waiting for them to turn up and then call you an ambulance is a good idea. Maybe a dumb question. I'm assuming "roadside Emergency Services" is who you would call for a tow-truck or other assistance with a disabled car. Right?Bandung_Dero wrote:1669 will get a Ambulance and Roadside Emergency services.
1193 will get the Hwy Police.
You will see the signs for these numbers posted every few kms.
Not sure of the Tourist Police number
I found this on another Thai Farang website:
# EMERGENCY NUMBERS
1. Crime 1195
2. Fire 199
3. Highway Hotline 1543
4. Medical Emergency 1669
5. Police 191
6. Tourist Police 1155, 0-3842-5937
7. Traffic Control Center 1197
I reckon these numbers need to be clarified by the authorities or the Tourist Police at the very least.
