International cricket in Udon ....

Postby PhilT » November 27, 2009, 3:43 pm

Attention cricket lovers - for the last couple of months the village of Sookasem in tambon Nong Nakham (about 7 km from BigC) has been holding cricket matches twice every week. It's very informal and the emphasis is definitely on fun and socialising. Our players come from Britain, the USA, Australia, Sweden, Germany, NZ, Switzerland, Thailand etc etc. We use a tennis ball, the pitch is small and has a few trees acting as extra fielders, and most of the participants are aged 50+. I'm currently appealing for anyone who wants to come along, either as a player or a spectator, or even a scorer, to come and join our happy crew. Several of our players had never played before, so experience is not required.
We play on Saturdays and Thursdays at 3pm, if you turn up you are guaranteed a warm welcome and a game. I've attached a map showing our location.

Hi - when I'm back there I'll definitely come along for a game. Great fun, but I can't promise to bowl straight after a few beers!
Cheers

And I forgot to mention that the pitch is right outside a bar, ice cold drinks whenever you need them. There's decent seating and plenty of shade too!

A good response to my original post - we now have a few new guys coming to play. Because of this we have had to change the start time to 2:30 pm, but still Thursdays and Saturdays.

OT's in, just put me behind the stumps somewhere as I'm sure there's a few people that wouldn't mind lobbing a cricket ball at me, I've not played much cricket since school days, however OT's always up for a bit of fun and meeting new people. All going well I'll be back in Udon next month sometime.

OT...... \:D/
