Iran's new toy

Postby merchant seaman » December 13, 2011, 6:45 pm

Seem's Iran got a hold of one of the U.S. secert spy drones. The mighty president Obama issued a strong plea, Can we please have it back? Iran is seriously cosidering Obama's request. Would think the U.S. would have destroyed it some how bwfore it fell into enemy hands. Obama diplomacy at work.

Iran's new toy

Of course America should just wander in and use whatever force necessary to destroy its latest toy, that it lost ( ) in a sovereign country.

That sounds so Ronald Reagan and GWB.

The world is actually moving on - although it may not be noticed in the deep dark recesses of those who believe in the theory of "born to rule".

I notice your thread didn't get much traction on the other channel, MS - except with the conspiracy nuts. :D

It might be more like Roosevelt 1, 'speak softly and carry a big stick', on the eve of the Spanish-American War.

Iran's new toy

well now, I just don't know. do they really have an RQ-170 in their hands?? Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RQ-170 says the RQ-170 has a wingspan of 65-90 feet. The "captured" drone shown by the Iranians certainly does not have that large a wingspan... So either the Iranians don't have the real drone or they've got something else, perhaps another model. BBC has a link with some photos http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-16154743 I read a speculative editorial that speculated that the U.S. was not reacting forcefully because the technology on the drone was "expendable"... Or perhaps it is yet another major cockup by the Intel folks in losing control of a multi-million dollar asset..??

Iran's new toy

As Lady Bracknell might have said:
To lose one spy plane [U2], Mr Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose two looks like carelessness.

As has been said many times, those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it.

One has to wonder at both the capability and the kind of US Military Intelligence (see “oxymoron”) that authorised putting that level of technology at risk in that theatre in the first place #-o ](*,)
