Stayed for approx 2 weeks at The Irish Clock before moving to The President for the remaining 10 nights.

Everything was great at The Irish Clock apart from the 1 night I stayed sober and couldn't sleep due to the noise outside. But the rest of the time it was great. The room I had facing the front with a balcony was spotless and all the staff are friendly.

Got stuck right into the Guiness on the day of the local elections that had a drinking ban at 6pm (some of us were reportedly drinking out the back Garden  )

Also met Udon's oldest Farang called Harry outside and he brought the pack of cigs I'd left outside to me inside. Very Nice Gentleman.

All good at the Clock especially the food and the breakfast is the best I tried in Udon.

I love this Brendan Shine song the Clock on the Wall.

Sums it all up when you have to leave Thailand.

Was I asleep or did someone verify that Steve and Mali were contemplating or definately leaving the Irish Clock, or not? If so, is there any rumor or fact that they have contracted to manage another Udon establishment?

Perhaps, having made their millions (of baht :D ) from draft Guiness, they are retiring to ????

TJ the rumour of them leaving leaving was a genuine mistake/misunderstanding &, thankfully, Steve and Mali are still at the Irish Clock - long may that continue!!!!!! :D :D

Glyn the weather has actually been better in Wales than Udon. No heavy rain or Thunder Storms - some scorching hot days but that 4 day spell has past so must be the end of the Welsh summer.

Anyway I'm back in Udon in July. :D

I stayed at the Irish Clock just last friday. I was very impressed by the room, which was enormous and very tastefully decorated. I'd post some pics if I could :?
The 'Full English' breakfast hit the spot too, with the best bacon I've had in Thailand. At 750baht a night it was better than my 2100baht room in Bangkok. I didn't have any problem with noise as I got back at midnight and sat at the beer bars across the road until they closed
