designer . it sounds to me like your wife is just home sick , which is understandable . why dont you suggest when you come over, she stay here for a couple of months with the family in the village , whilst you return to south africa , and then rejoin you there later ? that would be a compromise that is fairer to you both .

withdrawal symptoms from no being able to eat somtum are as bad as a crack cocaine addict going without his fix .
they really are addicted to the chillie buzz they get from that stuff .
then they turn into a crazy knife wielding maniac at your throat with a large kitchen knife .

i had better explain ,since i had my gals jugs improved with silicon the doctor told her not to eat somtum or any very spicy food for 2 months . she has been badly affected by the lack of a daily somtum fix .
definately more moody and depressed whereas before she was always as nice as pie with non stop smilies.

i think you may have a very good point here izzix , i never see my wife happier than when shes got something hot and spicy in her mouth , [no , dont even go there guys , im talking food here !!! ] has anyone else experienced this lack of chilli , leading to bad moods and depression syndrone ? could make a good new topic .

It may not be the lack of chilli but a note to izzix. After my ex- had her tits enhanced, she changed from knife-wielding haradan to gun-toting psycho.

Is this the same lady that tried to shoot you or is there a trend developing? I am reminded of Liz Hurley with the machine gun breasts in Austin Powers II.

Anyway, moving back on topic and an open question, how long was it before your wives returned to LOS after they had settled in their adoptive Farang country?

My wife has always had a hankering to to visit England with me.

A couple of years ago I took her over the border to Vientiene for two days while I did the normal Visa thing. After going to the office to get things started we decided to go and eat. A couple of hours later, and after visiting numerous restuarants and her looking at just about every variety of dish the Lao's could cook, she decided that she would buy a supply of packet noodle soups and heat them up in the hotel. At this point and with steam coming out of my ears, I asked her what the hell was wrong with Lao food, its no different from Thai food. Her reply a'h but not same same darling.
As we wandered of in different directions, her to the hotel and me to the curry house down on the Mae Kong I decided I would never take her abroad again.

Yup, the very same one. Not a trend though, my new one is 'different'...

The first one, that bitch (but I'm not bitter) made one trip with me home to the clan cave and kinda liked it. It was summer after all and driving through the Scottish highlands with pipes & drums blaring from the cassette deck was quite cute. But it was never our plan to move there full time (good bloody job too).

The new one has been with me to Vietnam, Singapore and Laos and depending on how work shakes out next year, she will visit the clan cave too so mum can go to her maker reassured that her only son hasn't buggered things up again.

I can't see the value in taking them home but in my case, I have been an expat since I graduated and to be honest, I wouldn't have a clue myself about making a home and probably end up eating instant noodles as well.

Brought my TW home one year ago. Most of the leaves were already on the ground, she liked the color that was left. Then cold weather ,she didn't mind it in fact kind of liked it. Then snow, just like a student as she would say, couldn't get enough made snow angels, went sliding down hills. Then spring she was a little bit not understanding that it is time to plant and the leaves would come back. Mid summer all the different chili"s she actually found some that were too hot. Now fall again and she loves the colors that are coming to the leaves. Oh yeah it does help that after 8 months she has met 4 other ladies from Thailand and now can have get togethers and eat Thai food. We are going back when get the green card and get caught up an all the expenses from that but she says not to worry. I do believe I found quite a gem, lucky I guess. :D :D :D :D :D
