Islands of Asia

I read somewher that "Thailand’s Samui and Phuket islands in the South were ranked fourth and fifth respectively among the Best Islands in Asia". Anybody here knows which islands might be considered better? Guesses would be fine; just to put them on my list for trips.

Who knows, Asia is so large?

I suppose if you can get past the Tamil Tigers, Sri Lanka (Ceylon) might be one. Bali in Indonesia is probably another good choice, and perhaps Celebes and Kalimantan are two others in Indonesia. Taiwan (Formosa) should be a good choice, and a few that belong to, or are shared by, Vietnam, China, the Philippines and Japan. The Philippines have tons of interesting islands, I think Palawan is one of them. South Korea surely has some fine islands as do India and Burma. Hong Kong Island must rank near the top of the list. There is one north of Kedah State in Malaysia that is a tourist destination that might go by the name of Palau Langwei or something like that. Singapore is an island state that attracts many tourists.

I spent a week in Phu_Quoc. The beach and the water was filthy. I was told that the garbage comes from Thailand, and that the opposite side of the island is better.
