If the student wasnt allowed to have a gun or carry it to school, then the incident could not have happened.

How lucky they are in UK that it is against the law to have a handgun - so of course no one does and no one gets shot - yeah right!!

There will always be a criminal element and there will always be psychos with guns - and there will always be those who expect others to defend them againt both.

The pro/anti gun argument is like religion and abortion – you will never get the other side to see or accept your point of view, let alone agree with you. So, it’s really a pointless discussion

The student who carried the gun to school wasnt a criminal.

The young kid who received a gun for a birthday present, wasnt required to have a " check "

Its highlights the fact that guns in the community can and will continue to kill and injure victims

Perhaps the 2nd case of the kid , should be blamed back to the fact that his mother should have been made to have an abortion based on the fact that the father in his " are u going to be a safe and responsible parent interview " replied NO, i will give my kid a gun before he is 14 .

There are NO laws that allow a 17 year old to carry a hand gun to school! Hold the people responsible!

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Where in the 2nd amendment does it mention age?

Surely it is an infringement of the rights of 14 year olds if they can't keep and bear arms - after all, they are people too.

Jack you are confusing the Bill of rights with laws. There are No LAWS that allow a 17 year old to carry a gun to school!

The intent of the Bill of rights allows people to protect themselfs. The LAWS have been have made to protect us from stupid people!

There is no legal handgun ownership in UK But the US will provide!!

Dateline 25 Jan 2011LONDON -- British and American authorities are conducting a joint criminal investigation into charges that a former U.S. Marine smuggled at least 66 guns into the U.K. Police now fear that many of the weapons, which include Glock and Ruger 9 mm pistols, are in the hands of gangsters in northwest England, the Press Association reports.

Steven Greenoe -- who was born in New Orleans but holds British citizenship -- was questioned in May by TSA agents at Raleigh-Durham Airport in North Carolina after scanners spotted gun parts scattered throughout his luggage, according to court documents obtained by the London Times. Greenoe allegedly talked his way past the TSA workers, claiming he was a legitimate arms dealer and that the guns were dummy "engineering samples," not working firearms.

The workers accepted his explanation and let him board the short flight to Atlanta, where he caught another plane to the northern English city of Manchester. CNN reports that Greenoe is suspected of making that same run at least nine times in 2009 and 2010. He was arrested at Raleigh airport in July with 16 handguns in his luggage, after British police tipped off U.S. authorities. Greenoe told investigators that he was an international security consultant and that the weapons were meant for employees working in hazardous areas, such as the pirate-patrolled waters off Somalia.

The exact nature of Greenoe's work, however, is difficult to decipher. His LinkedIn profile indicates that he is chief executive of security consultancy for the Jolie Rouge Group, but the company's website provides no evidence of any work it has carried out and doesn't list its office address, a contact e-mail or a telephone number.

The 37-year-old is now being held without bond at Pitt County jail until his trial, which is scheduled for March, WRAL.com reports. Greenoe has been charged with illegally exporting firearms without a license and falsifying an ATF form. British authorities have not ruled out bringing their own charges against him.
