Japan and weight control

Postby BobHelm » June 25, 2008, 9:43 am

Just seen an article on the Australian network about peoples' weight issues in Japan.
Apparently the Japanese government have just introduced a program whereby all companies have to measure their employees waist. The companies face fines if male employees have a waist size greater than 85 cm Or female greater than 90 cm. - that is 33.5 inches for males, 35.5 for females. I don't know how long the companies have to reduce the waist size but the fines (NEC were the company shown) sounded seriously large!! I don't know if a company can sack (fire) an employee for being over sized but I guess it will work more on the loss of face by the employee for costing his employer.
They also showed a typical traditional Japanese meal - 600 cals. Then a Big Mac meal - 1,200 cals. and implied that the conversion of the Japanese to Western Fast Food was the primary reason for weight gain.

Nice to know you Americans are even being blamed for social issues abroad as well (JOKE!!!!!) :D

I think you will find that Chinese children have been in china for a lot longer than 5 minutes..could be more like 5 decades or even longer.

Maccy Dee's nutritional table McDonalds Link

Big Mac 510 cals and to make you feel better it has some VIT A and C in one.

Large Fries have 500 cals....

be on the safe side and order several Diet Coke's to balance things up. :D

and the salt packets have no calories or Fat...so there you go.

In Oz the Bun which the McBurgers are inside is not allowed to be called a bread roll as it exceeds the sugar levels for bread, therefore it is classified as a bun and comes under bakery items .
