Just exactly what do you have to do to get them to listen

I don't want any confusion about this, this a definetly a RANT

Things have gotten so bad around the house with people not listening it resulting in major problems.

I'll just give two examples. We were having painting done to get drop cloths down masking tape to be used was five times a day reminder. It was like following kids around finger painting. Even with that one brillant individual climbs in the a new well kept pickup with paint on thier back of thier shirt, result one ruined car seat.

Still yet start another room they don't put the drop clothes down.
There are four of us in the house in the daytime, the wife and I, the aunt and the housekeeper who has worked fro is for three years. She is normally a jewel.

Ok I've had been having to follow people around like they are children. So I sit down with them Saturday count them that four days ago. I have a very Jai Yen talk with them all explaining that being ignored when I say something had gotten very old. As nicely as one could posssibly do asked to understand that when I tell them something I have reasons and want my directions followed.

About a month ago after Auntie had been told dozen of times not to let the dogs out to watch when she opens and closes the gate. She lets one out and he chews up a neighbors dog, fortunatley it was in the street, Honestly the dog is major pest and got what it had coming. So I'm up on my soap box with everyone for days watch the damn gate.


So what happens today house keeper lets the dog out, he heads right for the other dog who had been tormenting him for two years and this time he goes right into the peoples yard and chews him a new ass.

How do I find out wife comes in a panic and at the top of her lungs you got to go tell the neighbor sorry. After I recovered from the shock. I was real curious why I would be apologizing to neighbor, hadn't even been out of the office.

Then I get housekeeper let the dog out and he had a fight with the other dog. Lets see I didn't a damn thing wrong and I'm going to apologize. No something doesn't equate here, told her to tell the houskeeper to go apologize.

I got a shirt on went over and found out what happened and told the lady to take obnoxiuos asshole dog to the vet and bring me the bill.

I also made it very clear that the next time someone let the dog cause they are to lazy to look before they opened a gate they were going home including Auntie.

Now here it is guys no one wants to listen till there is a problem then they have ceated and then I'm expected to solve it IE: me aplogize.

Now if something happens, goes wrong cause you didn't know somehting that is a mistake.

But if you ahve been told a 100 times and you do it anyway, that my friends is stupid behavoir.

They are all consoling the the houskeeper cause she got yelled at this time, probably the first time in three years. She has got big tears running down the cheeks the whole nine yards Why becuase the lady who she apologized had not talked nice to her at some point.

Well so what nice people or not if your wrong your wrong and there is no doubt that she was wrong.

I have honestly hit me limit on picking up the peices for Thai's that assume because you are a farrang you don't know anything, Not one of them would have a darn thing without this stupid guys help.

I'm afraid I have reached my limit on this one.

Sounds like a Thai serial! Real Drama there.That would stress me out Sh..less!But Tipical. Never listen!I wouldnt mind,but they always think ther'e right.Do they think we stupid? more responce talking to a brick wall!

Fire the Auntie for two weeks, tell the kid to stay the .... out of your truck. And shoot the dog in front of everyone and put its head on a stick !!You gotta prove your crazier than a s... house rat or no one will listen. Oh yeah .Put a big spring on the gate for auto close.

I really salute you for trying to keep control of your dogs. That general
attitude that it's okay to let your pets run amok and attack other animals
or harass pedestrians is quickly leading me to purchase a slingshot.

The listening thing is a problem. My friend-girl has turned into an emergency
loan service for all her associates who are masterful at making her feel
guilty but of course, rarely pay her back. 38nholding, you're my hero.

I had a similar problem with the family leaving the gate open and our dog getting in the road.
We were out and about one day and her niecr rang to say that "WE" had left the gate open and our dog had got bitten.
We came home to find the dog in a sorry state.
Off to the vets, 600 Bhat and it would have to stay at the vet's until the next day.
Back home, call the family together, read the riot act.
Do not tell lies.
I will keep a big stick by the gate. I will beat the dog with it if I find it in the road.
I will use the same stick on anyone that leaves the gate open.

It worked, things are better.

Also had a problem with the neighbour leaving his gate open and his dog in the street.
It is a short haired German Shepherd ie not a small dog.
It has caused one accident with a motorbike.
One day it bit be twice.
I went there with the wife and my big stick and threatened to shoot the dog and the neighbour.
Things have improved.

As some American President said "Tread softly and carry a big stick"

That's ok , but maybe they dont have a big family! Last time I threatened someone,I got beaten with by 4
young Thais with large sticks! Its all safety in numbers here!
Need to be careful what you do and say.Just when you think all honkydori,.....Bam! Some of these Thais are crafty.They don't like confrontation.Watch your back!

Mortiboy, I actually feel that's quite sad 4 young men would think it
was appropriate to assault (1) farang senior with wooden clubs. You're
very generous in calling it crafty. They're very crafty when they have
large numbers, weapons, and their victim is at other disadvantages.
When you catch them alone,they're not so crafty and avoid confrontation.

Causing a perceived ''loss of face'' can be very dangerous!Your ''rights''are not assured here!

I applaud Git for his rant!The best action he can take assuredly for the present situation!

My suggestion is to limit the number of Thais that you want to communicate with,after instructions,provide 100% supervision and oversight.Which means,if you are not available,NO WORK!

Of course fewer people probably means a longer time for completion,but hell,what's the hurry in Thailand?Those in a hurry are passing up the ''pleasure''of the relaxed journey of living in Thailand.Gearing down was my biggest adjustment to living here and I have ,by no means,reached my goal

a friend of mine & his t/g/f was jump by two thai girls & lady boy they were after his g/f so he did the best
he could in pulling them off her but they still gave her a whipping so I said to him why didn't you clock
the lady boy then it would have been easy for you to handle one girl while your g/f beats the crap out of the other one his reply was he afraid of getting deported. Now I ask are we suppose just let them kick our azz and do nothing we don't have a right to defend our selfs or our wives & g/f well I will tell this to the top cop or the PM if any one touches me or my wife you can bet the farm I will bust him up with all my power inside my body and deal with the authorities later I am sick and tired of hearing about expat
getting the shaft every time it involves a thai I had one incident with a thai driving a pick up while I was riding my bike awhile back he cut very close to me I smack his window he stopped got out of the car & was yelling in thai I stood and look him straight in the eye and was waiting a bunch of thai got around & I did not give a dam I would have creamed him if he so much as raised his hands to fight me and I would have dealt with the crowd after wards

why is it that we assume thais are differant to anyone else ? many years ago when i got my first promotion to middle management , one of the first things i learnt from my district manager was , whatever you want them to do , my staff that is , tell them 3 times . its the only way you can guarentee its sunk in !!!!!!! with the language barrier multiply that by 2.
