Large Size Shirts
Re: Large Size Shirts
Stopped by Bo Bay to check it out today and found the place without a problem. Tip-off was the man-size tees that were hanging and not the dwarf/midget-sizes you see around town. Also, the farang husband of the owner was there. See him around town a lot on his motorcycle, a big German guy who always waves and has a big smile on his face. He's a former neighbor of ours at a local housing estate here.
Anyway, bought a couple of good quality tees at a reasonable price. They also have regular short-sleeved shirts and will order muscle tees (vests?) if you want them. My tee-shirt wardrobe is getting threadbare so will be back.
Thanks for the tip, Git.

Re: Large Size Shirts
I always thought the best place for larger than life sized clothes was the shop in the complex, forget the name,on the first floor or as we say in ungritland, ground floor.Turn right as you walk through the main entrance and it will be one of the last shops on the right. It has a large frontage naturally
Re: Large Size Shirts
Anybody have an update on this? I have been told that the Bo Bay shop has very cheap (ie low quality Chinese) clothes. Any new store specifically for farang sizes? Dress shirts, not just T-shirts. Long sleeves?
Re: Large Size Shirts
We've done a lot of clothes shopping at Bo Bay. It's actually a collection of dozens of shops. Most of what I've looked at in the clothing line is made in Thailand, a few in Indonesia or Malaysia. Don't think I've ever seen clothing made in China. Prices are low, and I don't see any signs of "low quality". In fact many of the clothing stalls at the markets buy their stuff here and mark it up. You see many people lugging huge bundles of clothing, I'm talking pickup loads.
Re: Large Size Shirts
Hmmm, thanks for that info jimboLV, perhaps my "informant" really wants a day trip to NK
Re: Large Size Shirts
Depends on what you mean by 'large'.....but I've seen xxl in the Export Shop located in the complex, first floor, right hand side about 3 stores before you actually enter Robinsons. Prices are higher than Bobae, but tend to be better quality seconds from places like Old Navy, Chaps, etc.
Re: Large Size Shirts
How much are the tshirts?
Re: Large Size Shirts
160-180bt for tee's, Polos slightly higher. There are similar shops (Export Shop) located in UD and Outlet Mall and carry plus sizes.
Re: Large Size Shirts
It's called Export 71 and it's next door to Pizza Company. There's another one located in UD, across from Toysrus and a shop or 2 down from the 69bt shop. Big 5 in UD (north end) also has plus sizes. Outlet Mall has a similar store to Export 71.parrot wrote:Depends on what you mean by 'large'.....but I've seen xxl in the Export Shop located in the complex, first floor, right hand side about 3 stores before you actually enter Robinsons. Re: Large Size Shirts
I have found that a Thai XXL is not an European XXL, therefore to find a comfortable fit I need a XXXL, now they are rare.
As for shirts to have one made is similar in price to a good quality one tailormade from a shop but will last a lot longer.
horses for courses I say. Camel used to make good ones, but even they have gone down the road of being slim fit, which are tight on me.

Re: Large Size Shirts
The range of sizes has improved since Bo-Bay opened it's doors, but for me it's a trip to Bangkok and a visit to Pratunam wholesale market, it has much more choice and sizes for the fatter b@stard.
Re: Large Size Shirts
Guys, i usually get my XXL which I find to be a UK XL at the market stall just out side and towards the ring road at Nong sam rong market. if you see a style you like and he dosent have a XXL you can ask the guy to order for you and leave a small deposit to keep him sweet and usually has them in 2 days. just now Im out of the north sea rigs and on a rig in Bay City Texas and bought some real good denim long sleaves shirts for 7 dollars about 500 baht. just wish I could return to Udon with a suit case full for you guys.

Hey Billg, I used to live in Bay City, Texas. Did a lot of fishing in and around Matagorda Bay. Really liked the area, seafood and the "red-necks" there.
By the way, at current rates $7.00 is about 220 baht. You got a better deal than you thought!
