Lasik sugery

I am new to this site. I have been to udon thani 2 times. I have TW there. I want here to have lasik but I do not know of a center in udon. I found one in BKK. What is the going rate. I know that farang pays more than Thai. Is there a way around this if my wife pays herself.

Where should she go?

Does anyone have a suggestion?

I saw that info beer monkey and thanks. Yet I did not see anything about the procedure or name of the place IN Udon (unless I overlooked).

looks like it would be trip to Bangkok to one of the big hospitals there...unless someone knows differant of course, would'nt thought there was a big market for this surgery in Udon/issan.

I am sure it will be Bangkok newbee. I was recently tested for glaucoma in AEK Udon (http://www.aekudon.com/aekudonEn/main.php)

I was told if I needed further treatment I would have to go to Bangkok.

I do not know about Wattana or Paolo.

I know that there are a number of folk interested in this procedure as well as I am.

I had the procedure about 3 yrs ago. Prior to the procedure I was given a very detailed brief of the surgery & risk involved. It was also explained to me that upon a successful outcome that I may require reading glasses to read small print.

Anyway, knowing the risk involved I still wanted the procedure and had the surgery. I came away with 20/20 and it was the greatest feeling of my life not having to reach for my glasses upon getting out of bed or messing around with contact lenses. Sure enough after the surgery I required reading glasses to read small print. About 6 mos later I developed dry eye, which can be very painful at times. 2yrs after the surgery I noticed my vision deteriorated a bit. Now I need glasses mostly for long distance, especially for driving at night.

I still suffer from dry eye, although not as bad as in the beginning. I have no complaints nor regrets and think it's worth the trade off not be dependent on glasses or contacts lenses.

good friend wore contacts all the time, but one day he has his coke bottle glasses on. necessary before the surgery. never realized his eyes were that bad. procedure done, slight adjustment afterwards, and like Rito, said best thing he ever did. no further problems, though next time he's online, i'll ask.

NOW, met a guy in nong khai last week, and his eyes are really bad, had the surgery done in the earlier years when first marketed. he was legally blind when done, came out nicely, but over the years, he's back to almost blind again. the negative, they shaved so much, that now, he can not have a cornea transplant, which would of been a better option, then and now, but not available to him now.

that's the only negative story i know. know couple others that had i done, no problems. thought about it myself, but my script is so small, doc advised me not to bother, the could actually turn out the same script in the opposite direction. my script is the margin of error, so why bother.

I am planning to have an evaluation -and possible procedure done at the eyeclinic in BKK ( June ).
What did it cost you ?

I understand that there is a Lasik Center in Khon Kaen. There is a web site ...not remember the name...good luck

You're better off doing this in Bangkok anyway as the doctors will have much more experience. In the end you're paying for their expertise and experience in doing the procedure so it's best to go with those who have done it a lot.
