All links are taking me to the same Govt Technology site today. Is anyone else having this problem? Or are we being censored?

Didn't see this new post before starting another one. Being redirected to Thailand Ministry of Information website when trying to access Youtube. Could be another zealous censor at work?

It is a strange thing. However, you can get around it all very easily.

www.youtube.com is not blocked. You can go to the site without any problem.

So, copy the last part of the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXzr5Ip4vP0 and paste that into your browser after you access the home page. Then click on go and it will take you to the correct page without any problem.

I suspect that there is some video on the site that is critical of the government, so they have simply blocked all efforts to go to any specific page without blocking the entire site.

I doubt that this forum is being censored - but then again, with some of the anti-Thailand rhetoric that is expressed here from time to time, that could be a possibility.

Thanks Doc. Rather ominous that the Ministry site you are redirected to, upon reading further is talking about a seminar to discuss internet security at the Rama Garden hotel in Bangkok today.TIT

Doesn't work for me. My ISP (Ipstar BB Sat) isn't allowing access at all to the youtube homepage.

Who was it that said censorship in any form is obscene?

Looks like all back to normal for now. Appears that the Information Ministry must have been testing their ability to block youtube from Thailand users.

YouTube blocked in Thailand - March 10, 2007
When attempting to reach the YouTube site from within Thailand, the user is redirected to MICT. MICT is the government agency responsible for censoring the internet in Thailand. The reasons and criteria for blocking are usually not made public. In the past, if the resulting controversy over a certain blocking is too great, the blocked site comes back online and the government denies it was ever blocked at all.
Update: The site appears reachable if "www" is omitted in the url.
Update: 12 noon, March 10 - YouTube does not seem to be blocked now.
