OK, Bob, I am not confused over the issues. You are perfectly correct on the regulations as they stand. They apply to (almost) all.

My point is that they are not suitable regulations, and should be changed to exempt ALL wives from the test. I will do my little bit through my MP to try and get a change. I don't expect to win as I don't have Joanna Lumley supporting me.

I doubt if you will convince your MP to make all wives exempt, but you might convince them that all wives should take the test, including Herman's wife...just out of interest, what was the requirements pre EU.??

For example we have a German client who resides in the UK we are applying for an EU Family permit. Which is a 6 month visa on arrival she applies for a 5 year residents card and yes she is entitled immediately to public funds etc.

And the visa is free the spouse of a UK Citizen must pay 37500 to the UK/BA.

Also of note : EU Family permit applications take priority over all over applications generally issued in 7 days, UK Spouse applications can take up to 90 days.
