Looking for gas springs to lift hatch

Postby KHONDAHM » September 18, 2010, 5:07 am

Does anyone know the location of a store or junkyard (with SUVs) selling gas springs? I need gas springs that can lift a load of at least 60 kg. Global House, Home Pro, Pro Tools, etc. do not have them. Thanks in advance.

Why would you look for a car part in a hardware store :-k

Anyway, there's an auto part store located mid way between this soi (see map), sorry don't the name, but I always check there before going to the dealer. If they don't have it they may be able to order it, but you'll have to pay up front so take the part with you.

Ah the joys of sharing a common language Rito .I would hazard a guess that the hatch in question is what we in England would call a loft opening. A means of getting into the roof space of most homes .Whilst I believe your side of the water hatch is used to describe a car with the back boot hatched away . Confusing ain't it mate . :-k

Correct sir, if the OP we're English :-" Also the following led me to believe it was for an automobile...

Does anyone know the location of a store or junkyard (with SUVs) selling gas springs?

and to the OP, if it is a car part you're looking for you can also try this place too:

Ha! I am tickled reading the replies. Anyway, I found it at Home Pro. Haffle branded. The employee missed it during the first visit. I found it while looking for a bracket today. There are several just below the "L" brackets.

FYI for the uninformed, a gas spring has more applications than just opening the rear hatch of a car. Just as a hinge is good for a car door, house door, window, etc. A gas spring used in an SUV can be adapted to work on a lid, hatch, lifter, etc.

Again thanks for the replies. They are appreciated. Problem solved.
