Stan Mikita is surely happy; however, the long time Detroit Red Wing, Gordie Howe, might not be so enthusiastic. On the other hand, Glenn Hall, Pierre Pilote, Bobby and Dennis Hull, Moose Vasko and Eddie Litzenberger, if alive, must be thrilled to pieces.

I stand corrected. It must have been a freudian slip. I meant Stan and Bobby, the last golden era of the Blackhawks.

Chicago has only won the Cup three times, surprisingly. Last time they won in 1961 was against my team, Detroit Red Wings. Dennis Hull came along a few years later but the other guys mentioned were there along with Al Arbour, Ab McDonald, Reg Fleming, Tod Sloan, Chico Maki and Ron Murphy for the Blackhawks.

Chicago is a team that Detroiters love to hate but they are one of the Original Six so will grudgingly pull for them against Philly. Just maybe their players will then demand huge salaries and leave for greener pastures.

Polehawk, I have always been a Red Wing fan too.

One thing I do not understand about the NHL is their reference to the original six: Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, New York and Boston. I believe they originated at, or during, the Second World War which began in 1939.

Prior to that there was the 'Original Eight':

Detroit Red Wings
Toronto Maple Leafs
Montreal Maroons
Montreal Canadiens
Chicago Blackhawks
New York Rangers
New York Americans
Boston Bruins

Before the original eight you had a plethora of teams such as, the Pittsburgh Hornets, Ottawa Senators, Hamilton Tigers, Toronto St. Patrick's and so on.

OK, LA, Philly still has a chance but growing slimmer by the minute. Hey, whassup with that Chris Pronger? Steals the puck at the end of games. Don't they pay him enough so he isn't peddling souvenirs on EBay? Or is he just being a prat or a pronger?

Montreal Maroons (Macaroons, maybe?) and New York Americans? Think their home arenas were on outside rinks, weren't they, Tilo? :-k

Breathe again LA ......... the Flyers are still there ......just.
Game three result ......... Flyers 4 - 3 Blackhawks O/T

What a c*ck up by the Blackhawks ......... puck in centre ice having lost the face off, and you make a two man line change !!!!!!!!! Flyers take advantage of the 5 on 3 and Claude Giroux scores the Overtime winner.

I'm sure that Giroux got a "kick" out of that goal. OK, maybe it was a deflection off of his skate but it counts. =D>

Gee, the Chicago fans were already planning their victory parade. :-k
