Postby kevh » October 5, 2006, 7:33 pm

Hello everyone,

Upon our return to Udon (Myself, Wife and Daughter) early December

We will be looking for a live in Maid.

Basically to do general duties around the house and take care of our daughter (1 year old today) on the occasions that myself and wife decide to go out on an evening.

The sucessfull candidate will recieve a competitive salary plus room and food.

1 day holiday each week.

Sponsorship for any further education course she chooses on her day off.

And ofcourse the oppurtinity to live with a fairly laid back young western family.

If anyone knows of someone who would be interested or have any comments then please feel free to post.

Cheers

Very generous kev,our nanny gets 1 day off a month, works from 7.00 AM to 7.00 PM and is paid 4000 Baht.

Check around the village, its a nice package for a country girl.

I know its a good package, i am trying to find someone who is worth employing.

I know it's not easy to find good people anywhere in the world, let alone Udon.

The fact that there are more than 50 views of this post and only 1 reply really makes me laugh about issan.

Everyone complaines about not being able to find work and not having a good education,

But when it is available no-one is interested.

Is everyone really waiting for a farang?

Yes, they are.

When we offered a job as housekeeper to a lady from my wife's home village, one of her mother's first remarks was "Maybe she can meet and marry a Farang."

:) kevh, first thing is,I doubt many ,if any of the viewers are potential candidates.Second,it wouldn't surprise me if 45+ of the viewers are guest viewers and probably don't live here!

2 1/2 days at school holiday break and the beginning of a main Buddhist holiday, makes for many travelers and less local posting!

Those that have ''nannies'',would probably only be able to ask their staff for recommendations, not necessarily know anyone of that ''class'' looking for 4-5000 baht job!

Unless you get lucky and get a rec from a falang family that is leaving Thailand, you will probably have to be here to interview for yourself!

As far as offering to increase the education level,it would be very unusual to find a Thai of servant class that has ever had any motivation instilled for school classes. If they have entertained ideas of meeting a falang, they might be interested in some conversational English to help them! But most, quality village girls are not looking for a falang!

My wife's best friend in Bangkok is 40,a single mom,ex KG teacher,ex international school office person! She is a maid now for an Australian couple, paid 15K a month, evenings and weekends off and a lot of free time
when her employees travel back and forth! She speaks English very very well relative to most Thais!

I wish you luck and of course ,if I hear of anyone,I will definitely pass it on.Though I wouldn't assume any responsibility for the results!

If you are to be living in a village you will have no problem finding someone,in town a little harder.I found three in the village, the third being the one the children love. Also i do not know anyone here with a live in maid/nanny on their own as that is not "sanook" and Thais do not like to be on their own. Those with live ins have at least one other employee. They would rather not work than have un-sanook,friend free employment.

Please do not go shouting that about, eight days off a month. If my maid hears such stories she will want a rise and some time off each month. :(
