Malicicious content!

Postby trubrit » April 29, 2011, 12:50 pm

I have just downloaded a new anti virus programme from PC Tools, called antivirus free . Since then I am receiving a message at the top of the forum home page '"Take care, some potentially malicious content detected on this website "
Any comments please.

Malicicious content!

It is very unusual for a spyware program program to suggest that a site is endangering your machine & then allow you onto the web page. Rather defeats the object of it...

This is what PCWorld say about PC Tools free anti-virus when they tested it...
Bottom Line

PC Tools Antivirus, which neglects to detect spyware, allows far too many pieces of malware through for it to realistically protect any PC.

AGV or avast! might be a more reliable choice if you are looking for a free checker for Windows XP/Vista.
Microsoft Security Essentials plus something like Malwarebytes if you are Windows 7 is probably as good as anything.

As far as I can see the software has picked up malicious content on http://www. tanadorn.com and is being flagged up because it's posted on the forum. It's also saying there is a bad anchor link on another page which I'll have a look at now.

Wild guess the monitoring by Thai Authorities perhaps. Some posting might be on the edge of their rules.

Malicicious content!

Postby Khun Paul » April 30, 2011, 9:03 pm

I use Avast which has been for the last few years just about perfect, but my British bank automatically downloaded onto my computor a spyware programme they run to protect the internet site from hackers and the like.
I occasionally have the flag stating that this programme is a malware ( which of course it isn't ). Upon contacting the bank, they stated that often some anti-virus programmes falg other anti virus programmes as unstable/malware or the like. This is not really a problem, but the banks site only wakes up when I visit the banks website, the rest of the time it sleeps.
Sp maybe the programme you downloaded is not compatible with your current set-up.
Also i used to use Norton but found it too finicky, Avast is far better and FREE, which is a bonus these days.

You may also use Microsoft Security Essential on Windows XP and Vista P.C. I have it on all 3 of my P.C's that use XP/Vista/7 and it works great on all 3.
