Udonmap finally resurfaced in the early hours of the morning. There was a major explosion in the building that houses udonmap.com's data and around 7,500 other customers’ data. The hosting company called 'The Planet' gave the following statement Saturday evening after the incident took place:

"This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.

We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.
This is a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers. All members of our support team are in, and all vendors who supply us with data center equipment are on site. Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday. Rest assured we are working around the clock.

We are in the process of communicating with all affected customers. we are planning to post updates every hour via our forum and in our customer portal. Our interactive voice response system is updating customers as well.

There is no impact in any of our other five data centers.

I am sorry that this accident has occurred and I apologize for the impact."

Luckily no data was lost and everything appears to be in place this morning.

Thanks for your patience everyone. :D

The site crashed again yesterday afternoon and finally kicked back into life this morning.

There may be more connection problems later in the week while they work on the server. If this happens and you want to check the progress please see the following thread, it contains up-to-date information by the hour.

There appears to be several bugs since the crash of the Houston Hosting company, unfortunately our host is not answering any emails so we're completely in the dark with what's going on. If the problems continue I will switch off the site temporarily and resume transfer of files to a new host.

I will try to limit downtime as much as possible while this takes place.

I'm relieved. I thought maybe the Thai govt's new cyber police division had
shut us down for our incessant inflammatory topics. The internet does
seem to be suffering from general malaise lately? I truly wish I understood
more about how all this stuff really works but you know, ignorance is bliss.

When sending a PM, after clicking on submit it just hangs there with the following at the bottom of my screen "waiting for www.udomap.com", nothing happens and usually go back into the forum topic area. Apparently, some of my PMs are getting through, but the process is not finishing to let me know that the PM was sent.

There is a problem with the reply and send function on the forum. I have noted several other errors too but the host is not replying to my emails so I'm unable to do anything about it for now.

My guess is that a sendmail function has been dropped on the server and needs starting again.

Big headache time. :(
