On another forum that I read, they have a well publicised rule - seemingly strictly enforced.

Any post in which someone says they are "not going to post anymore" or otherwise stamps their feet or spits their dummy, is immeditaely deleted ie if you want to opt out it is your private decision, and really of no interest to other members. :fryingpan:

I heartily suggest Lee institute something similar on UM. =D>

ps It also prevents any embarrassment if you (the opter-out) have a change of mind at a later date. :oops:

Oh, I don't know Jack. I always find it amusing when people throw their teddies out of the cot and then sheepishly creep back into the fold as though nothing has happened (sorry for mixing the metaphors). Whatever happened to Ter by the way? :-k

There have been a few dummy spits in the past few months, plus the odd (no pun intended) opter-back-in

I reckon it lowers the overall tone of what is otherwise a good forum.

And does anyone else really care if someone wants to stop posting?

Plus, as I said, it saves (well deserved) embarrassment.

On another board (Thai) a couple of years back there was a big long-winded tearful farewell as a member took a bollocking and twew his dollies out of the pwam... He got a few replies of "Ah please don't go" then he came back with an "Oh okay then!" And no this wasn't spongesquarepants.com/forum... This was a grown-up! :mrgreen:

Westers, ter says hello and good luck to all, he is fine and living in the sticks past nong bua hes on thaivisa and teakdoor he does keep an eye on stuff on um and misses most but not some.

just when you try to get out.....................they drag you back in.................RJ is correct, sparring partner still here, and since almost receiving his doctorate thru the excellent online courses offered here, he thought WBU would be more appropiate.................though quite possibly, like myself, :roll:

WBU He has been Called Rico in posts...and has never denied it (to my knowledge) unlike someone else who reinvented themselves...and denied it..although they were rumbled from very early on in the new guise. :lol:
