Leaving Kumphawapi we headed for the King Cobra snake attraction in Nam Phong just off hwy 2039. Again very easy to find, once you get to Nam Phong there’s signage that points the way. Once there I was surprised by the size of the facility (if it can be called that). The set up is about the size of a boxing ring with seating on 3 sides. The snake show is put on about every 15 or 20 min and last about as long. There’s an area with snakes, monkeys and peacocks on display. No entrance fee, but a donation stern is passed around and you give what you want. At the end of the show we took a group picture for a 100bt. Also, typical tourist crap is available.
Leaving the snake attraction we continued on hwy 2039 (heading west towards Kranuan). Having read on another post about a zoo that has giraffes and ostriches we decided to set out and look for it (link provided). About 8K from the snake place on the right is an army base, Fort Prem Somethingorother. At the gate, my wife asked the soldier on duty if there was a “zoo” on the base, he confirmed there was and ask for ID (which he kept & returned when departing) and gave us directions. Again easy enough, we arrived to find 2 giraffes and about a dozen ostriches. We spent about 30min there snapping pics and relaxing a bit in a shaded area. Come to find out later after saying our goodbyes to the animals, food is available across the street to feed the animals. There’s also a lake with paddle boats for rent, the paddle boats rent for 20bt an hour.

All in all it was and enjoyable half day out, the kids loved it and reminded us (nagged) us to come back again soon. Just to reiterate, there were no entrance fees for any of the attractions, except for donations at the snake place and army zoo
