Movies with English soundtrack

Right now,the 3 biggest box office movies of the year are playing in Udon,but none of them is in English!

I wonder what the criteria is for deciding which movies they feature a English soundtrack with?

I'm guessing it would be for than 2 or 3 english speakers to attend Stan.
I was hoping to see the new Pirate's movie there but no joy.
Every time they have shown a picture with original english soundtrack I try to go and there is usually me and the TW there.
Guess I will have to wait a day or two and buy it down the market on DVD

There must be a difference in costs to them for different movies!

i don't think down and outs have the cash to waste on cinema outtings, they would rather spend on methalated spirits or carlsberg special brew.

I agree!But they do show one every once in awhile!When I moved here 3 years ago,it seemed there was 1 movie playing in English each change of movies.Lately,there is seldom one playing!

The problem is in tickets sales just not that many english speakers support it

put yourself in the managments shoes, why would you show a movie in English in Udon, when only a few people will turn up to watch it, should'nt think it would pay the electric bill.! ("bums on seats" quote jimbopsm)

maybe they could do what they used to do in Bangkok when there was a late at night Farang movie on the TV, it was in thai, but if you tuned the radio(wireless, lol) to a farang music station they had the soundtrack playing at the same time as the movie, many a night i used to watch them long before everyone had cheap VCD's !

alternatively take the Mrs along and constantly ask her to explain whats going on, a little payback for all the times she may have asked you to explain stuff just as the good bits of a farang movie in English was on the screen.

When I was there in the '70s the Thai sound track (The Sound of Music was something else in Thai) was a separate recording synchronized to the movie and most theaters, for an extra fee, had headphones or a booth to listen to the orignal sound track. I guess from this tread they don't do this anymore.

on the same lines as stan, i first came to udon over 3 years ago, went to the cinema and watched a movie in english with thai subs....since then i moved here to live ( 7 months now ) and everytime i go to the complex and check the cinema its always thai/eng..i posted the same question on here a few months ago 'is there a schedule for english movies'..the relply i got from fellow udonmappers was that if more of us went to the cinema and asked them to show more eng/thai movie then they would....

when they mean more, it probably means a third or half a cinema or at least more than 40 people, can't see it happening but heres hopeing for all the farangs wanting to see a decent film in comfort in Udon.

I don't begrudge them the ability to make a profit and understand that if there are not enough customers,it doesn't make sense to show the movie!
I guess I am disappointed that when I moved here,they were showing them ocassionally and now,hardly ever!And when they do show one,it is of lesser popularity than others that could be shown!Therefore ,the question why?

Stan why don't you hire one of the travelling movie theatre's around 7000baht for the night i think, just pick your own films 3 or 4 then watch in your own garden, if its big enough of course, and you don't mind 114 excited thais looking over the wall !
oh i do love a village movie show.

Well Stan you really want why not organize a movie night/day, go to the manager and gaurantee x number of tickets sales for a specific event, get the guys on here that will commit to paying for the tickets even if they don't show up. Yuo get yuor movie it becomes available to the community and the theater makes money. Might work if you can get people to commit to it.

Even if it once a month it's a start.

Personally I would commit to two tickets a month even if I don't get there.
