My daily life in Thailand

Postby nkstan » September 2, 2010, 10:37 am

A routine day:Wake up or get woken up by the dog licking my hand about 5AM,check to see if the daughter is up or not.Plug in the hot water for coffee and tea, check if there is enough rice cooked, prepare and cook some if needed.Turn off all the outside lights, take clothes out of the dryer and fold them!Chop chicken up for the dog and get dressed!

About 6AM,I take the dog in the bicycle to the promenade for exercise and her morning elimination needs!Stop at Mr. Donut for donuts with my coffee upon return to the house,if I am in the mood to listen to the wife yack yack about my weight,as she spends her morning hour in the mirror getting ready to run and exercise for a hour.Give her my approval,if asked, about her color coordination fashion outfit for exercise!

Talk with or attempt to assist my daughter as she is prep studying for her classes that day.Sit down at the computer with my coffee and donuts, while waiting for the wife to come home and asked if we are hungry or if we ate already, repying''yes,we have all eaten ,thank you''! Take my daughter to school

Take a shower and gather the laundry to put in the washer, after my wife comes home and finishes her ''situp exercises''.Check the TV for American sports(on early in the morning,if happening),maybe finish up on the computer or watch TV,put washed clothes into the dryer and back to the com or TV or both, while the wife spends her 2-3 hours in the shower and the mirror preparing herself and deciding on her ''fashion'' statement for the day!

Probably about 10-11 AM,I have folded the dried clothes, put away and then lay claim to the shower! We have a shower downstairs also that I prefer, but I wait until the wife finishes ,so not to steal the water pressure

Some days ,I go on my Tesco-Lotus run at this time(best time to go for selection and service.Other days, take the wife to the local veggie and fruit markets for her cookups, stop on the way home for the doggie to pee.Come home with supplies and help the wife put away.If she is cooking that day(usually cooks for 3 days worth of meals, that we nuke as needed),I will prep the meat and wash veggies for her to chop up!Then I will cook the chicken for the dog(nuke boiled)to last 3 days!

after lunch(non-cookup days),either at home or we go out,the wife and I might watch TV,chit chat,go run around together in the car or on the bicycles or spend quiet time reading, watching TV,com, maybe nap for an hour, gardening(mostly the wifes hobby,I mow the lawn and carry out the trash) or maybe we go have a beer and shoot a few games of pool together(taking our dog,of course). When I am in the weight losing frame of mind,I go to the gym for daily workouts 2-4PM(not my frame of mind lately)!

4PM,pick up the daughter from school, take the doggie for her afternoon pee,on the way home.short time of communication with the daughter about whatever
Before dinner,at home or out,I do a variety of things from lazing around to researching info on the computer to make English lesson plans for my daughters at home English studies,Fri-Sat-Sun,which we do together about 4 hours each day! After dinner,I like to cleanup the kichen cooking area and do the dishes from the wifes''use every pot and pan in the house prep and cookup! Then it is more lazy leisure time of reading, watching movies, sports, computer, whatever.

About 8PM daughter showers and off to bed,8:30 wife takes over the shower until around 10PM!I usually practice my daytrading stocks research and papertrading on the computer until about 10PM,I either stay up to watch UFC or EPL,if on the tube,or I shower, put the laundry in the washer and go to bed with wife and doggie!

These are ''normal'' M-F routines for me,all subject to interruption upon desire to do or go somewhere as my ''retirement'' allows or desires!

Weekends and school closed days causes alot of variables,as my daughter claims more computer and TV time, plus we do a major cleaning chore together;like cleaning all the fans(8),cleaning windows, window screens and door screens,Once a mont or so,I like to do a top to bottom dusting, sweeping and mopping of the entire house with the daughter(on the job training for her in the ''American''way ) which lets her know that she can not be spoiled all the time !

We let the wife spend her time in the mirror checking her ageing characteristics or sorting her fashions(clothes) or cleaning ,HER WAY,which takes about 4 x my way,but her choice(wipe wipe wipe, sweep sweep sweep, mop mop mop or take every individual knick knack and give it a thorough wipedown or washing)as her,the dog and I are in retirement mode(means we can do what we feel like doing),but the daughter is in ''future prepping'' stage,so gets more demands on her time(less and less as she is getting older and has develop some OK growing skills )as she gets to process her anxieties about the future!

After this stage of my life is completed,I think I will become a pub crawler and conversationalist, while consuming alcohol on a greater scale!Cheers :D

Teaching your daughter the American way? If I met an Amrerican woman that cleans house like you I would have never left. Seems all the ones I met ate all day watching soaps and getting fat. Now that I think about it not much different any where in the world once you get married. If you get some spare time how much would you charge an hour?

 IMO,retirement is being in a position to do what you want ,when you want to!Different people have different issues,it is not so easy to stay on vacation forever  My back would get stiff from laying on the beach all day!
