Need house (rent) with swimming pool

Postby eggnoodles » December 11, 2009, 11:10 am

Hi all,

I'm looking to rent a house with a swimming pool if poss. Western kitchen would be a bonus. Within 20 minutes drive from/to city centre. Coming from the business district in BKK, budget shouldn't be a problem.

Where do you suggest I start to look?

Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried the Classified section of UM. Other than that, like so many on here will tell you, get a room for a few days and drive around :D welcome to Udonmap :D

Hi

There was a lovely house recently for rent at the end of the BB resort. Big two story house with a swimming pool.

The house had a sign in English 'For Rent - 25,000 baht per month'.

I would have loved to live there, but a bit too expensive for me.

Last week I saw that the house was still empty, but had a 'For Sale' sign out front.

If you want I can ask my gf to call and find out if the house is still for rent.

How long do you plan to stay?

Maybe OP can advice - but I took it that he was coming FROM the business section of BKK to Udon - so a high (for Udon) monthly rental would not be an issue as it would be less than he was currently paying.

Yes i think he wishes to rent in Udon, but because rent is high in Bangkok, a nice house and swimming pool in Udon should easily be affordable.

If you want to rent in Bangkok, or say Pattaya, Chiang Mai, the choice you have on websites seems endless. Udon choice on websites sadly, is not endless. Better to be fair than Loei for instance, an area i have an interest, where i've yet to find even one property to buy or rent through the internet. Udonmap did have i think the best range of rental properties in the Udon area, but i think most were lost recently by mistake in site maintenance.

I know by asking locally, it can be reasonabl;y easy to find rental property in the Udon area. But i think today, the internet is used, in fact almost expected, to show property for sale and to rent, and i think locals or farangs wishing to sell/rent, are seriously missing out on the potential that Udon could have in this area, if the internet was used to its full potential.

Hi,

Thank you for your nice review of my property Nick but i'm afraid to say that I already have rented it on a temporary basis while I try to sell it.

Another site that has properties is my own at udonclassifieds.com that you might like to check through although I don't recollect any rentals with a pool off hand.

Best regards,

Thanks all for the responses and suggestions.

Yes, I am looking to move to Udon - from Bangkok, for 1 year.

@nick - Many thanks for the generous offer! I owe you a beer.

@Phil - I completely agree. I work with Internet Marketing and understand the huge potential. Someone needs to start up a free weekly clasifieds paper, in Thai and English :) I think there's a golden opportunity there.

@thai_tan - If you want to rent the house out when the current contract expires, please do keep me in mind.

Cheers all

Well, if Nick gets a beer for his post then I should get two for my upcoming review. :D

We stayed at thai_tan's pool home for 6 months and it was fantastic. The 4 bedroom/3 bathroom house was furnished and had a nice Western kitchen, air cons in every room, nice screened patio, beautiful swimming pool that thai_tan himself maintained along with the groundskeeping chores plus the nicest couple you could hope to meet for your landlords. The house is in a quiet area of BB Resort and we had access to their large swimming pool, tennis court and exercise room. I understand that they have a happy renter at present time but this property is listed as being for sale also, in case anyone is interested.

Only real reason we moved was that we were prepared to move stakes to Pattaya where we lived for a year back in the '70s when it was a paradise on Earth. Not as great these days but lots of farangs avoid the sleazier areas and enjoy living there with all of the conveniences of the western world. Found a nice house down there to rent, paid a deposit on it and sold off a lot of our heavier furniture items. Wife changed our minds about moving away from family so we ended up buying a house on 1 rai in paddyland, 20km from the village. Far enough away so we don't see too much of the relatives but close enough for family support in case we need them or vice versa. We're both happy and still get to visit Pattaya and Bangkok frequently.
