Two wins in two days was too much to ask I guess.

Oh well, there's always the Ashes although the T20 is a great idea for making the game more approachable for the masses as well as making loadsa money for the owner and sponsors. Sort of like comparing the World Cup to senior level club competitions. Same as rugby where you have the 6-Nations or the likes of the "Super 14" in the antipodes.

I remember cricket as being boring but while I was studying at Aston, I went to the first ever one-day test at Edgebaston and that convinced me. Getting rat-arsed, sh!t-faced and passing out just beyond the boundary was a life-changing experience.

Tamada,

Aston university? I spent many a year there in the 70's. Many life-changing experiences, but watching cricket was not one of them.

Well the 20/20 final was won by Pakistan who beat Sri Lanka in the final.
I did not see it, but a remarkable turn around for Pakistan who have been in very much of a cricketing slump. Problems with former players, problems with current players, problems with their Board, the terrible attack on Sri Lanka players who were touring and now very much a cricket mad country that no-one will tour (well, in their right minds they will not!!).
On a brighter note.....the English ladies beat New Zealand ladies in The Lords 20/20 women's world cup. The game was a repeat of the 50 over version final held in Australia, with the same result.
England won a very important toss & then bowled fantastically well to restrict NZ to 85 runs. Had a few anxious moments (on what was obviously not a batting pitch) but really won quite comfortably.
So English ladies are now undisputed one day champions.
Quite a few youngsters playing (at least one 18 year old & one 19 year old) which might be an indication of the way for the mens' team to go!!!
NZ must feel pretty gutted as this was the first game they had lost in the competition - they had beaten England pretty easily in the earlier stages - although England had qualified for the latter stages by then.....
