This is a great story about an 96 year old Swedish women moving from Sweden to Thailand/Cha Am, i really hope i meet her for a chat when i go down to my vaccationhouse in okt!!!! :D

Goodbye Sweden!
Today moves Eva Bergdahl, 96, to Thailand.
- I do not expect to come back again, she says.
Eva Bergdahl is busy at home in the large apartment at the Royal Ground Road in Karlskrona.
Empty all, It is almost entirely empty. The echoes between the walls.
- I have given away everything I own, she says.
The only thing Eve has left is an air mattress and a little change of scenery.
- I'll sleep my last night in Sweden on the mattress, if it does not leak any air. Then I sleep on the floor. I did last night. New clothes can I buy when I arrive.
- If I arrive, I can iron on the trip. But then I'll do it then.
Eva Bergdahl's beloved husband, driver Eric, died eight years ago.
Since then, one friend after another disappeared.
- Now it's almost just me left. It gets so lonely, so now I am going with my son, Ingolf, 68, and his Thai wife. She does a very spicy food ...
Eva Bergdahl's son and daughter in law live in a big house in Cha Am, 20 mil south of Bangkok. The first time in Thailand Eve live with them.
- They have plenty of room, eight rooms, though Ingolf'll get me own place eventually.

Eva thinks that she has had for some time to tidy up for the move.
- Although I have been up since six. The phone rings in one, you have to respond. I have not had time to eat either.
Could not you have been helped with the cleaning?
- Help! you Do not you think I can handle myself, young man?
Eva Bergdahl is in itself a return ticket.
- The landlord says I should get an equally nice apartment if I change my mind and come back. But it will probably not an issue. Such a long journey is done only once in a lifetime - if you are my age.
If she is nervous about the trip?
- No. damn not, not at all! The first thing I should do is to make permanent the hair, it only costs 20 dollars. Then I will ensure that Ingolf get some real food, mom's meatballs, meatloaf, cabbage and whatever it becomes. Brown beans are certain the only thing you can not get over there.
- If all goes well, you are welcome there on my 100th birthday party, little buddy.
These days life seems pretty good and I eagerly look forward to the continuation!

Never too late to become an expat!

Our new expat has arrived at CHA AM!

Eva, 96, enjoys his new home in Thailand
CHA AM. Here are enjoying says Eva Bergdahl, 96,a bit of Paradise. And she has decided to stay in Thailand - for good.
- I have it so fantastic. I will never move back to Sweden, she says.
After her husband Eric died eight years ago and most of her old friends back home in Karlskrona died the year it became very lonely: despite his age decided Eva Bergdahl to emigrate and move to the son of Ingolf and his family in Cha Am, about 20 mil to the south of Thailand's capital Bangkok.
She came early on Thursday morning with a plane from Copenhagen. Really tired, of course, she had not slept for three days. But now it is quiet Sunday and Eva Bergdahl has rested. And she tells of a journey that was more dramatic than we knew the truth:
- I fell backwards on the roll bands at Kastrup airport. They said that there were no lifts when I was up to the end. I was about to kill me.
Did not want to go to the doctor
She now has sore ribs and decent bruises on both arms. But she did not want to go to the doctor in Cha Am.
- No, this will pass. I thought it was better to visit hårfrissan.
This Sunday in October, Eva Bergdahl barefoot on the lawn at the home of her son and just enjoy. It is just below 30 degrees, fairly humid air.
- But it's better than it is cold, says Eva.
Kick off your shoes
The whole family with Ingolf, Ohrason wife and eight year old grandchild Pitsnou then takes her down to the beach in Cha Am. Eva Bergdahl is a bit difficult to walk because my ribs hurt. But she kicks off her shoes, feeling warm sand between your toes and then goes down to the water and check the temperature:
- I love to swim! In a week I'll jump in here. I promise. Just have to buy a bikini at first, one yellow.
The family has not made up some planning at all for the immediate future. However, they shall make some excursions have been decided.
But first of all, return ticket to Sweden canceled.
These days life seems pretty good and I eagerly look forward to the continuation!

Good for her. Hope she enjoys her time here.
I would think that she is probably the oldest person now living in Thailand.
Wonder what sort of Visa she has? perhaps one to look after her 88 years younger grandchild?
