Sorry Douglas (reading forum whilst doing something else again !!)
Even an area of 2 sq miles, means that the chances are whoever fires the shot will have a better than even chance of a getaway. I keep thinking about the "improved" security system they brought in on the London Underground. Every metre of every platform was to be covered by CCTV camaras, which was very handy for the girl who was being assaulted at midnight on the platform at Tottenham Court Rd Station........ at least, if she was still alive she could watch the evidence being replayed at the trial. Now if ALL the platforms at ALL the stations had a member of staff on duty, the chances are she would not have been attacked in the first place, or the attacker would have been scared off. In the same way, installing hi-tech equipment will not, and can not, replace having MORE BOBBIES ON THE BEAT.

Hi,
Agree with you when you say that this will not replace the "bobby on the beat". it was never intended to, only to help and assist them. Rather like when portable radios first came in, can't do without them now. It has only just started so lets give the system a chance for 3 or 4 months. It is only a trial to evaluate the system. In N.Y. the first place to have this, it has proved a success, according to reports. Impracticable, nay downright impossible to have a bobby standing under every lamppost, so I for one welcome all the help they can get. They

So far on this thread, I have appointed more NHS staff, more Bobbies and more LU Staff ...... I think I may have "cracked" the unemployment problem back home,
