New Investment Strategy

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago,
you would have $49.00 today!

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG one year ago, you would have $33.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago, you would have $0.00 today.

But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, and then turned in the aluminum cans for the recycling refund, you would have received $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle.

It is called the 401-Keg.

And as a bonus...

A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that on average Americans drink 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means that the average American gets about 41 miles to the gallon!

Makes you damned proud to be an American!

Jees Parrot, you must be bored silly with alot of time on you hands there. Obviously Semperfiguy has taken a little artistic license and played down the figures. The point of his Joke is very well taken imho and i think people will get the message from it without you correcting the guys Maths!

I know your kidding around but, your not to far off really. Buy those companies that produce daily and people consume daily. For example TTW and EASTW. Someone uses water in Bangkok your making money, they pay good dividends solid companies with very low debt ratios, And to top it off the are at bottom feeding prices now prices right now.

AroyFarang, thanks for coming to my defense! And by the way, I love your signature at the bottom of all your posts. I've got a pretty good idea where good ol' Abe got his material. I thought this sounded awful familiar.

Proverbs 17:28 NKJV
Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.

The investment strategy in the OP is not exactly new; a chain e-mail version has been doing the rounds since October 2008.

This article on “Snopes” shows that in various forms it goes back to 2002:

That's correct JimboPSM! I never claimed it to be my own. I just received it by email from a friend this morning and thought the forumites might appreciate a little light humor. The figures mentioned don't have to be spot-on for one to appreciate the jest of the message. So lighten up everyone! With all the doom and gloom in the media these days, I think we could all use a good chuckle. Cheers! No ill will intended!
