New model car year

Postby 202marcellus » June 26, 2007, 2:53 am

When will the 2008 car and truck models be available for purchase in Thailand? In the US the 2008 models generally go on sale in September or October with some models coming out a little earlier depending on the maketing needs of the maufacturer.

No one has any ideas about when new vehicles for the next model year are available to be purchased? When was the 2007 Toyota Hilux first available for sale or the 2007 Honda Jazz?

The 2008 Corolla is listed as being released later in 2007. I am beside an Isuzu dealer... I just need to psyche myself up to talk to him. Fahlang+money = commission. "Sit down sir, you like some coffee?" He does not accept the words, "I'm just looking thank you!" Some of my previous relationships were shorter than my visit to my Isuzu dealer.

What is your first choice? Is it being revamped?

Are Isuzu dealers still snobs like before? Did they not lose their # 1 position to Toyota?

the vios, made in thailand, was revamped for 2007, nice job and the price stayed the same, not sure about corolla or camry, if any major changes for 2007, or planned for 2008. might want to check toyota website, see if they are promoting any improvements for next year model. i ordered a vios, going to take 10 weeks, not until after august, thought the same, just wait till 2008 models, but not sure if tax or price will be the same. they sold out very quick, so they may raise the price next year, plus the dollar value every day is making it more expensive as we speak. although the money is already here, it's just mental torture. very expensive car for what it is.

I don't really have a first choice at the moment but I am beginning to lean towards a 4 door pickup, probably the Toyota prerunner. They do have the advantage of being more versatile.

I just hate to buy a model from the current year and 1 or 2 months later the next model is released especially if it has been redesigned. Not the end of the world but I would just as soon wait if it were only a couple of months.

I'll be arriving at the end of August or the first of September and I imagine I 'll begin to have a look for a new vehicle shortly thereafter. I can use the pickup of the father of my g/f in the mean time but I would prefer to keep the duration as short as possible. He doesn't use it much only on the weekend but I still prefer to have my own. I'm sure you all can relate.

I'm sure you've already checked the website: http://www.toyota.co.th/red/en/

The Camry has just been changed... I don't suppose you know when the current model Prerunner was launched? I suppose the norm would be 4 years before a facelift.

Maybe you could check the pressroom section of the website now and again to see if one is being launched.

The only advantage of buying a car/truck that is being revamped is you get a great deal on it.

My car in Ireland is a MKII Toyota model and I got it the week the new one came out so I got alloys, CD, air and every conceivable option thrown in to sweeten the deal. I was delighted with it as I will most likely never change it. When I retire here I will just give it to my daughter... :D

no sense in starting new thread, as this pertains to purchase/registration of cars.

went to nong khai immigrations to get letter for car registration. just when you thought it was safe to go in the water again. first time i was treated extremely rude for no reason than apparently being from udon. apparently they have the attitude with us extras from out of nong khai adding to their work load. no problem, open an udon office with new people, everyone will be happy. first comment, before even knowing why i am there "another one from udon", after looking thru my passport and house registration, asked me again, after i already said i needed letter for vehicle registration, "what do you want'. sorry, cant' do, here is form, politely tossed my way and told to go to passport bureau. ok, where? udon. udon? didn't know we had one, whick unless i missed something, we don't. so, khon kaen comes to mind, and i didn't bother asking, they seem to of been done talking and assisting at that point. have a nice day to you also. simply unbelievable. there were only a couple customers there, all being treated rudely for no reason, all being as tolerantly polite as possible. one nice gent apparently just did his first extended visa, and simply asked where the forms were for 90 day report, and rudely told over there, without pointing or what to do with them. helped by our brethern farangs and asked if he has to come here to do 90 days, and reassured anywhere or simply mail in, to his relief. very sad situation, have never seen them act this way before, just the usually miserable life syndrone, but this time outwardly agressive.

oh well, to the point, has anyone bought a car this week, and know what the hell i'm supposed to do with this form, where? going to go to toyota today, hopefully they know, if not, wouldn't surprise me, over to our good friend at mitz., subject of previous thread, for a little info, hope he is up on new law.

good luck to me and i will repost after this latest hoop is jumped thru. 8)

They will never guess who the poster was, LA. Erm, that's not you in the picture, ennit?

Personally, I think the whole lot of them should be transferred down to Yalaland to help prevent immigations.

i think about that sometimes, don't think the disclaimer will help, but hey, can't hurt. don't think i'll be using them too much in the future, if that new rule applies to me. if i need income reverified in bkk, might as well do it all there.

update on car registration requirement, asked at toyota just a few minutes ago, and told my house registration book, yellow/resident, and my passport was all i needed, and provided to them, copied. so hopefully that will be all. we repost next week after receiving car, hopefully nothing new to add.

flashback to thread about house books, some questions about why needed, now know one reason good to have. it does seem redundant what immigrations told me, have to have passport bureau verify residence, especially when proof of residence is another gov't document from amphoe office.

ok, picked up car, no problem w/paperwork, submitted w/house registration (yellow resident book) and passport, nothing else extra required.

if anyone is thinkin about an entry level car, they really did i nice job restyling the toyota vios, very happy with it, although, it is still and overpriced vios. how come in the states they are in the 12,000 dollar range, but here, ok, add all that shipping, and they are only 16,000 bucks. but it is an amazing difference for that 2003 piece of junk, a much more comfortable piece of overpriced metal 8)
