My guess is that Nobi has the potential to provide a good sub as he already has some variety of cheeses and meats. I've not been in Cher Chim to see their deli meats and cheeses.

When in Pattaya I frequent the several SUBWAY franchises. The Viking bar on Pattaya two has good subs, Itanian, steak and green peppers, etc. Likely there are dozens of locations offering a proper sub in Pattaya.

For me the traditional long, soft roll is necessary for a satisfying sub and that may be hard to acquire in Udon Thani.

Hi,
Why go out to buy subs. Make your own, like one poster said, far better, and you can put in what you like. Yes, you can get most of the things in Udon. The British are like this, they would rather go out and buy fish and chips from a shop which has poor quality fish and those awful frozen reconstituted things that they call chips. Yuk. A lot of people don't know what a potato looks like. Still this is what the world is coming to nowadays, and it's not good. Soon the art of cooking will be lost. I'm not keen on sarnies but I like a good stew. Make my own stock, with bones etc. and throw anything I have into it. My neighbour came round the other night so I give him a bowl. His comment was very good, where did you buy it, I must get some. Alas this is what the world has come to.

No grinders either - sweet Italian bread, Genova Tonno Tuna (yellow fin in olive oil), shredded lettuce, salt, pepper, olive oil, and Provolone cheese, sliced tomatos and no mayo. Fatone's Grocery no longer exists but wait I think I can get reasonable substitutes here in Udon and a lot cheaper than back in Connecticut. Douglas, you have inspired me I have a mission for this week! I can then move on to a Ham Grinder which will be even easier!

If he can serve up delicacies like this, he will have plenty of customers... But, maybe I spoke too soon...D&N? Why doesn't anyone open up places in convenient locations? In the States, most successful sub shops are located someplace convenient for the grab & go crowd.

Do you swallow this thing whole. If not, how do you stop the little olives from rolling off.

When masticating, one should always protect the small balls on the side from dropping off.

If a sub sandwich bar opens up in the Hall of Shame, I reckon a sub filled with Beef Curtains with Horse Radish Sauce will be a top seller.

The new Lotus do a 12" soft sub roll, near perfect for the job, just finished one inspired by Jing Jai's Photo.
While they aren't a true sub the french rolls in Laos are a good substitute, Partic as you can get a good wine to accompany it for a reasonable price.Image

You can also get the Lao sandwiches made with "baguette farang" from Nong Khai market. Kanom Pan bread that is found throughout Udon breakfast stalls is similar, made with flossy pork and vegetables. Delicious ! But the Lao french style ones are just superb

Personally speaking, Subway sandwiches are poor, far far too many flavours and they use that sweet mayonaise that Thais seem to love on everything.
