Nok Air added 1 daily flight to BKK & 1/week to Chiang M

Postby Dos » September 2, 2006, 6:07 am

Nok Air has announced that it will add another daily flight to Udon Thani in addition to its current flight schedule - from 3/day to 4/day - starting 29 October 2006.

The scheduled time for this new flight will be:

BKK - UTH : DD9208 09.35 - 10.40hr
UTH - BKK : DD9209 11.05 - 12.05hr

Moreover, Chiang Mai - Udon - Loei - BKK (and vise versa) route will be also added with another weekly flight on Wednesday - currently Friday and Sunday - with the same scheduled time.

This is a result of Nok Air receiving two more 737-400 aircrafts from Malaysia Airlines to its fleet - currently 4 Boeing 737-400 and 1 ATR72-500.

I was wondering the source of your information as the additional flight is not shown on their website. I have been waiting for someone to add a morning flight at a more sensible time.

The source is from Mr Sihapan, Nok Air CMO, through Pantip.com.

You can be sure with any information I post about Nok Air as I would have checked with Mr Sihapan before posting them. (He is our friend at Pantip so we can communicate with him directly).

The flight information on the website is not yet completed (all other additional routes/flights either). I guess they will try to finish it as soon as possible.

I looked at the Nokair website and booked the new morning flight for 11 November (it starts on 9 November). They called me today to say the flights on 9-11 have been cancelled "for maintenance" anf the first flight is 12th. Not sure how you can maintain a flight that hasn't started yet! Other travellers please note revised start date.

The aircraft may fall into maintenance period earlier than the scheduled time because of several factors and low cost airline nature. That's why they are often changed / cancelled / delayed.

Ok here you go.

I've just got a real reason from Mr Sihapan about this.

The aircraft will be hired from Malasian Airlines. Initially the delivery date is sometime before 9th, but due to a long public holiday in Malaysia, Malaysian Airlines cannot deliver the aircraft on time. Therefore, some flights at the beginning have to be postponed.

I guess it would be hard and take more time to tell this story to customers than just say it's due to maintenance reason because most customers understand what maintenance is while a delivery of aircraft is somewhat more complex.
