Derek Jeter became the first New York Yankee to reach 3000 hits in a career. He did it most fitting by hitting a home run for his 3000th hit. The person retreaving the ball returned it to Jeter. The Yankees gave him four tickets for the rest of the home games along with autographed balls and bats.
Remarkable achievement especially considering the way the game is played these days with batters striking out or 'walking' more often than in the past.
Well done Derek.
However, he's still got a ways to go mind 'till he gets in the 4000 club. Now that's an elite little club.
